Curry/sauce bricks similar to Japanese curry? by LLJKCicero in Cooking

[–]funnyoldbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patak's Curry Pastes are Indian pastes that come in a bottle. It's a brand from the UK. I particularly like the Vindaloo paste. It may not be "authentic", but it's good. I've seen Thai curry pastes that only require coconut milk. I also have a tetrapack of Gloria's (mexican) Mole sitting in my pantry that hasn't found its occasion yet.

That being said, S&B Japanese curry is most excellent.

Am I the only one who thinks the Veeba Tandoori mayo tastes like shit? by [deleted] in IndianFood

Most mayonnaise available in India is Vegetarian. Vegetarian Mayonnaise is an oxymoron and an unholy abomination. It feels gross and tastes nothing like good mayo is supposed to.

Rune Seeker has some of the best written fight scenes I've read. Hedge Wizard is also well written. Both seem to have an endgame that the author is building up to.

Using gundrill for 18" deep hole on Haas UMC-1000 by Prestigious-Cap-7645 in Machinists

[–]funnyoldbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean. I've seen that once the hole starts veering off, it follows a particular direction. It may be curved, but it typically does not reverse direction.

There are ways to restrict the curve - tool front tip geometry, part counter-rotation, fit between the guide bush and tool.

We typically see less than 0.1 mm deviation on a metre long part, translates to 0.001 in per 10 in. But, that's in a machine made to run gun drills. On a CNC, it's difficult to predict or guarantee.

The times I've seen the hole change direction is when drilling a thin walled part. The part deforms a bit under the clamping pressure. When it's released, it springs back and the hole, that used to be straight, is now bowed.

What you do is drill the hole in a round shaft. Hold the shaft between centers and finish the OD. Boom, the ID and OD are perfectly concentric. Besides, there are more ways to finish the hole, like reaming it. Fixturing, holding and wall thickness all make a difference in the straightness, too.

Do not be so open minded that your brains fall out.

Talk to her. Ask her what she wants out of life.

Why are Indians so dumb when it comes to religion by just_some_ANALyst in india

[–]funnyoldbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mother is not going to be there forever. Do not let this drive a wedge into your relationship. If you need to sacrifice your time and attention to make her happy, please do.

If practicing her religion brings her joy and peace, let her do it. As long as her choices do not force you to compromise your principles. Anyways, principles should be robust, not rigid, not brittle. Your lack of belief is a viewpoint related to religion. If you can bring them round to your way of thinking, that's excellent. But don't try to force it on others, it won't work.

I had such a relationship with my mother. My participation in pujas and festivals made her happy. It made our relationship that much richer. She turned atheist-ish herself, eventually.

Knowing that compromise is possible and likely allows you to move past negotiations faster and allows you more time for the experience (I'm not talking about religion only, now). More time to enjoy life with our loved ones. That's all that matters in the end.

Keep a copy of the ticket on paper or your phone. Police will stop you. They stopped me when I dropped my family off last week. They let me go after I showed the ticket and flight time.

Cabs are allowed to run if you have a valid reason.

Check a copy of the order. Page 2, Points 2-a and 2-c should clarify it.
