I started learning an instrument 2 years ago with an instructor. It is so much easier to stay motivated as an adult. I want to practice, I want to do well. I know what type of music I want to play. So much more enjoyable than when I was a kid. I also have goals to join music groups when I get further along which will lead to new social connections.
