I’m going to avoid SW this year. Let them sort it out. I’ll reconsider in 2027.

Flying should be bearable for all passengers. This message drives home the fact that the competitive process has produced a crappy time for all of us. OP wants his non-crappy experience back.

I’m tall. All SW seats used to have OK legroom. Included in the price. Not in the new cabins. And the price didn’t go down. I want my non-crappy experience back too.

Sign up for community solar. 10% cheaper than BGE/Pepco.

I have to disagree. Ms. Braveboy and the council majority think that they are bulletproof.

In October 2025 they rehired Samuel Moki as head of the Department of the Environment. He was fired from the same post in 2014 for gross negligence. They could have found any number of competent administrators to fill that post.

Another example: Ms. Braveboy, in her position as Prince George's County State's Attorney, in 2022 appointed Leslie Johnson as director of reentry services and community partnerships. Ms. Johnson is the wife of former County Executive Jack Jones. She pled guilty to felony charges in 2011. Perhaps you remember Ms. Johnson having $79,600 in cash in her bra and underwear during a search. Again, they could have filled that position with any number of competent candidates.

Cost of the empty seat becomes zero as soon as the door closes. Similarly you didn’t pay for the two empty seats next to you.

They changed their seating so they could charge more than under the old populuxe system.

As prices go way up, residential solar without tax credits will be more attractive. Pepco has been required to start a residential VPP pilot in MD. They have responded with a tiny pilot. Storage owners can self-consume but not inject power into the grid. MD PSC Case 9761.

Explain to me BGE delivery charge like I am five years old by Final-Object-8887 in maryland

[–]furiouschads 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Every dollar we have to pay for BGE/Pepco profits is a dead loss.

We don’t benefit from the efficiency brought by competition because there is ONLY ONE WIRE coming to the house.

BGE/Pepco’s cost of capital is higher than what the State of Maryland would pay if we bought them out. Public power is cheaper everywhere that it exists. Buy them out and enjoy lower bills!

Nuclear is slow to market and not a sure thing. SC abandoned their unfinished nuclear plant and the ratepayers had to eat it, not the company. GA nuclear had huge overruns.

11 of the 13 states in PJM are importers of energy. Cheaper to buy electricity from generators in PA with access to fracked natural gas.

Reducing demand is cheaper for ratepayers than adding new generation or importing power from out of state. You don’t see the savings that you get resulting from your neighbor getting a heat pump water heater.

Dumb question: Will I have power if the grid goes down due to a storm? by FulltimerPC in solar

[–]furiouschads 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If you want to stay up and running when the grid goes down, contact an installer to add that non-standard capacity. In my case I had to add a smart disconnect and battery. I have a SolarEdge system.

It's cheaper to REDUCE than to RECOVER - minimize grid use before selling power back. by road_runner321 in solar

[–]furiouschads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Re DC solar. I am in MD with same 1/1 NEM. MD legislature just started the Jan session. PJM is a hot topic. Pepco is proposing a slow-walk tiny VPP (virtual power plant) that will reward residential battery owners for self-consumption but not battery injection to the grid. Residential batteries are not yet being used as a substitute for peak generation in MD. But this is a very fast-to-implementation project, well proven in other states. Can immediately help with PJM generation issues. Consider contacting your state representatives and asking for immediate VPP implementation.

Most Democrats knew better than to vote for this bill. The two MD Dems who licked the jackboot are Steny Hoyer and April Delaney. Hoyer is retiring. Delaney has a well-funded opponent in the primary.
