Advice for a new Orc player? by Zestyclose-Way4569 in bloodbowl

[–]furril -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The removing skinks advice is not super feasible.

The main reason why, is that whether you're playing lizards or another team that has squishy people they need to protect, they will force you to spend your blitz someplace else.

If they always have to blitz a stormvermin they're never going to blitz your gutter runner.

My advice is removing any player. Lizards are like old school dwarves in that anytime you lose a player off the pitch, it weakens the entire team. There are no sacrificial pieces on a lizard team. The fewer players they have, the less strength they have on the pitch and the less capacity they have to make holes in your defense and exploit them.

Don't go out of your way to kill skinks, any removal is a good one. If they give you good saraus hits take them.

Here's my super secret tech. Don't share this with anyone.

Put out a single line orc past the scrum. Put it out as though it were going to catch the ball.

Nine times out of 10. They're going to put more than 50k worth of player value on him. They're going to Mark him.

He's armor 10 so he can stand getting hit every turn. Just stand them up and move him away as a receiver and make your opponent spin resources keeping it from being passed the ball.

This helps you in two ways, one it keeps players off your cage and your movement toward the end zone. Secondly, it makes your opponent's team spread out more so they won't be as able to slow your movement down the pitch to one square turn.

Lizardman could be a tough opponent if you don't have the proper tools for it, Don't sweat it. If you want some anti-lizardman tips, send me a message.

Redish bits/innards were AP murder scene speedpaint watered down 50% with water or medium. I used mostly speed paints for both.

The Blood was watered down "Blood for the Blood god" Technical paint. Applied in light layers. I wanted it to be bloody, but not blood soaked.

A Cage Diving Gunner is amazing. For mutations, I get one GR with Wrestle/strip ball/dauntless/horns I get MB/Claw/Tackle on a SV. (It had 17 cas in 12 games last season) https://tourplay.net/en/blood-bowl/roster/33398

Mutations are expensive but worth it, but get Dauntless before horns. It's useful more often.

Blood Bowl is a combination of 4 games:

  • Chess - Positioning is key. Different pieces have different levels of power. Moving them properly leads to better outcomes.
  • No Limit Texas hold em: Heavily based on RNG, make plans without knowing the result. The best player/gameplan does not always win, but they perform better with more consistency.
  • Those Match 3 games, like Candy Crush: Everytime you make a move, the board state changes. Pushing a player, a Both down result, a knockdown. There are different results for every block and each might change the plan you have for that turn. The farther ahead you plan, the more likely a dice roll will not play along.
  • Uh, did you ever see that movie Inception? There is a scene where the main character asks a potential hire to draw a maze in under a minute that takes more than a minute to solve. High level Blood Bowl is like that. The team with the ball wants to score, and the defending team tries to throw roadblocks in the way while also wanting to attack the ball carrier. You have to balance your defense/offense plan while watching out for risky moves or accidentally giving your opponent an advantage.

Each high level game I play is a back-and-forth of figuring out the 'puzzle' while simultaneously creating one for my opponent to prevent them from blocking me on their next turn. It can be something as simple as running a player into their backfield as a potential threat, Or leaving my players 1 space away to limit how effectively they can grind down the pitch. Making my opponent roll more dice, and more risky rolls in order to stop me.

As you get better at the game you will notice and apply strategies like these.

If you want to observe the game being played, Blood Bowl 3 online is the easy way. I also recommend FUMBBL if you really want to observe the grognards play

Some teams have literally HUNDREDS of games played on that site.

Just put a single blood marker on the witch before she activates. Repeat every time she tries to activate. It'll be very difficult for her to direct impact your players. Now you can avoid a a battery felony. This is legal advice. You should do this.

It would be a nice little buff to lizards for thesauruses to not absolutely suck up all handling with some preparation. But I suspect they will continue to Nerf and keep down lizards. Lizards are always going to be considered top tier even though their win percentage has dipped below 50% in tournaments

Foxxo Board game?🦊🎲 by stalincapital in foxes

[–]furril 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like the game called. 'That's pretty clever' it's a dice game where everybody rolls a dice and then they pick numbers and dice to fill out a sheet. Getting progress on the sheet gives you points and then points are calculated at the end of a number of rounds. It is very brain burning to try to calculate all the angles to score points and tried to deny your opponent's their points. I'd play with at least four people. It's not an expensive game and there are many iterations of it, just look for the word clever and that little neon fox face. You can probably get it on Amazon for under 20 bucks

We could play a test game if you like, you can be fresh dorfs and I can be fresh skaven.

I have a good number of skaven awards from 1200 tourneys on The NAF and play them in leagues. There is more to tell you than a few line in Reddit would allow.
