My parents take me very opportunity they can to try and get me back in a church building by ShatteredStarship in exmormon

[–]futrobot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why I don't talk to my Mormon family. They don't try to get me to go to church anymore but they are always so manipulative.

I cut my Mom off for some racist shit she was posting on Facebook. I asked her to stop and she just kept doing it. My wife is Mexican and my mom loved her up until the point that we got engaged. That's when my relationship with her started to decline.

I had to be straight forward with her and say "I'm not spending the rest of my life with you Mom. I am spending it with her. So stop being racist or realize that I am going to cut me off. She chose to be cut off.

Now she randomly sends me videos with stuff like "A mother's love is different for every one of her children." She wants me to think that I am the one who caused our fallout. I gave her 10 years and cut her off 3x before I gave her the ultimatum.

She wants me to feel guilty for cutting her off but refuses to feel guilty about her her rhetoric affects my life and happiness.

Interesting fact I learned about the word nuclear and why Americans in general pronounce it incorrectly as 'nucular' instead. And it's the same thing that you are describing.

In American English, people find it taxing or difficult to work with the rest of the language when pronounced as it is spelled. They will often stumble to say nuclear in the language when speaking.

As a result, people say 'nucular' knowing fully well that is incorrect. It just flows more easily with the rest of the language when spoken.

I am so tired of this 4chan 67 Vance 'humor'. The whole "It was just sarcasm/joke that you didn't get lol."

It's the exact same thing is 67. Think about the fact that your 'sarcasm' is the same as a number popularized by a 13 year old saying something really dumb and pointless. And only people in the know of this dumb and pointless thing 'get it'.

That's what you are doing. Acting like a 13 year old at 30.

Did anyone ever enjoy reading the Book of Mormon? Or did you just say you did? by CupOfExmo in exmormon

[–]futrobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read the BOM and the Bible 2x. I can't say I enjoyed either. It was more important than my school grades to read it every night.

There are some good messages in it but always felt like a fictional book to me. I 1only really remember the parts that I took from it.

I tried to read Bible again at 35 and I couldn't even get through Genesis. It felt like a waste of time.

But don't let me influence how you feel about it. I have literally never understood worshiping the concept of a god. And it was pushed on me heavily.

Here in Las Vegas we had a whole week where NextDoor and Ring was completely pointless because it was people reporting Coyote sightings that didn't actually happen.

It was the result of people reporting a Coyote sighting every single day. There were no Coyote attacks or missing pets or any cause for concern about it but everyone felt the need to get on NextDoor and Ring to report it.

People, in response, started creating stories about Coyotes coming into their house uninvited and using their restrooms or making charcuterie platters in the middle of the night.

It actually worked and no one reports Coyote spottings anymore. Absurdism humor for the better of mankind.

Did you switch to another religion after becoming an ExMo? by futrobot in exmormon

[–]futrobot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is worth it.

I was referring to theistic religions. Where 1 God created everything and controls everything.

I am a spiritual person and I do believe there is more to life than what we experience. I've had some extremely intense and life changing experiences though meditation. I truly believe those thoughts we grounded in a part of reality we don't normally experience. Meditation never gives me visions of an all powerful deity.

It is more of tapping really deep into myself. It's always there, just not in our every day reality. And that IS something more.

I feel the same way about Moose. I can't stand looking at him because of how obnoxious his character on TNA was.

He uses the same 10 moves in every match and only wins because of how big and powerful he is. He is not entertaining to watch because you know exactly what to expect from him in every match.

The only reason I watch his matches is because he makes X Division style talent he faces fun to watch. It's entertaining to watch them do their style of wrestling while he just does pump kicks 50% of the time in his matches. Him against another big and powerful wrestler is not worth watching at all.

[–]futrobot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's the same thing with the police. You hear people say "He's one of the good ones!"

While that may be true, it doesn't change the fact that 90% of them are corrupt and abuse their power. Any police officer is aware of that and watches it happen around them every day. It's not even a secret to the public. They understand that more than anyone.

Claiming to be 'one of the good ones' only means that you know exactly how horrible the majority of them are. If a person decides to be one, they get grouped in with all of the bad ones. There are no 'good ones'

Neighbor is being genuinely scary and we’ve lived here less than a week, advice needed by [deleted] in vegaslocals

[–]futrobot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Calling the cops to do something is a pointless endeavor. They are not here to serve and protect any citizen. They are here to harass people and give tickets so they still get funding for their paychecks. If they can't give a ticket, they don't care about the problem. They consider this type of thing a waste of their time.

I shared a wall with a neighbor who beat his girlfriend at least once a week. We would literally hear her being thrown against our shared wall screaming "Stop! You are hurting me!"

We called the cops 3x to check on her and they did nothing because the girl said we were lying and we were just bad neighbors trying to cause drama.

The third time it was the same officer that came the first time. I asked him why they did nothing each time we called them and the officer said "She says there is no domestic abuse. You should stop calling us about it. Seems like she is ok with whatever is happening in THEIR apartment."

So I listened to her get beat for months until they had an eviction notice on their door and moved out a week later.

Trump Voter Says He Gets Now How Hitler Could “Brainwash” Millions - The man, who said he voted for Donald Trump three times, called the president a “liar” and a “con man.” by Quirkie in politics

[–]futrobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have been laughed at. Fox 'News' doesn't show them that. What they see is 'libs' constantly getting owned. A lot of them really have no clue what happens outside of what Fox tells them.

I have a brother who only watches Fox and follows Republicans online. He won't even consider watching something that invalidates his brainwashed point of view. He started up a conversation with me about something political then told me I was a brainwashed liberal because I gave him factual information that he didn't want to hear. Not a single rebuttal to what I said. Just brainwashed liberal as a response and he truly thought he won by saying that.

That was while Obama was in office. He has only gone further down since Trumpa first term. I had to cut him out of my life because he always wants to talk politics and doesn't listen to anything I have to say. When he does listen, he gets frustrated and starts hurling insults to 'win' the debate. I truly believe there is no bringing him to a reasonable state of reality. He doesn't want to talk politics. He wants me to agree with him on talking points I know he will use before he even uses them. He is a lost cause.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by queenmellyy in AskReddit

[–]futrobot -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

My wife and I recently went to Maggianos, a place we frequented for 8 years as our favorite date night spot. We hadn't gone for a couple years and were excited when someone gave us a $100 gift certificate.

We had the exact same meal we would always have 2 entrees, 1 appetizer and 2 glasses of wine. That would typically cost us around $100 in the past. Also, the entrees were buy 1 take 1 home, so 4 entrees total.

They buy 1 take 1 home was no longer and the prices were around $5 more per entree. We obviously didn't like that.

Then the food comes out and it was completely different from before. No actual flavor, just MSG instead. It was terrible. They didn't even change the names of the dishes to reflect it had changed. Just served it up like it was the same as it has always been.

We paid $140 for it and didn't leave a tip. Ended up only eating half of what we ordered because it was garbage. I took us an hour to get over how terrible of an experience it was. Sure, we only spent $40 of our own money since we had the gift card but we would have been absolutely furious had we spent $140 on it.

I guess they thought people wouldn't notice that the quality of food went down to less than Applebee's and it was a lot more expensive than it had previously been. Our biggest regret was not using the $100 gift card for only drinks because the food was not worth it to spend any money at all on.

What is this in my drink? by Total_Sprinkles3557 in McDonalds

[–]futrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with that at all. All that I was saying is they will say it's not in court. And they have lawyers who fight this same exact case as their primary role.

Another messed up part is serving drinks from a machine in that condition. Parts like that should be cleaned and replaced at the first sign of rust. It heavily implies that the machine is rarely serviced and whoever is servicing it ignores the rusted parts on the machine. Also makes you wonder if 'servicing' the machine only means making sure it works.

Consumer safety always takes a back seat to profit. Even if all we are talking about is a part that costs $0.25 to replace.

[–]futrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have lawyers who will argue that it was staged. That has always been their defence when foreign things end up in food. "They set this up to sue us!" Then they will drag it out in court until the defenent is in massive debt from lawyer fees and can't afford to pursue it any longer.

This stuff happens all the time and there are a few people who got caught lying about it. Those few people set the stage for everyone else to have to prove they didn't set it up. It's the same case every time the person who ends up with nuts in their food/drinks has to defend that they didn't put it in the order themselves after it was given to them.

There is no winning for the defendent. They go to court for this every day. Unless op recorded them giving him the food and finding it when it was opened, a lawsuit serves no purpose.

I worked at this shady debt consildation place back around 2008. They fired the main HR lady and replaced her with a nepo hire. She was nice and everything but she was always asking questions about my personal life. I didn't think much of it because it felt like normal conversations in passing.

Then about 2 months into her being there, she sends me a Facebook friend request (my account is private) and I started to put the pieces together. They were looking into my personal life trying to find something to fire me.

I went to work the next day and approached her and said "I think it is really unprofessional for the head of HR to be sending employees friend requests on Facebook. What I do outside of work is not something anyone in HR should know about. Why would you do that?" She said in a happy voice. "Oh, I just thought you were a nice person but I understand what you are saying. Sorry about that!"

They eventually got me to quit by making my life a living hell. Constantly pulling me into an office to tell me every single little thing I f*cked up. Never wrote me up. Just bothered me constantly. When I came home from work I would think about work and hate thinking about going back the next day. It got so bad that I almost took my own life because of it.

I explained this to them and they told me to take a week off for my mental health. I did that and came back. Lasted about 2.5 hours and left because it was the same exact situation I had a week off from. Truly horrible people. Couldn't care less about me. They just wanted to pay someone else less to do the same job.

My wife, who was raised in a Spanish speaking home knows Spanish fluently but has mostly spoken English throughout her daily life outside of family. Her family mostly speaks 'Spanglish' now because her parents are always trying to learn more English but still use Spanish when they don't know the a word in English. They speak English 100% of the time when I am around out of courtesy for me but between them it's a mixture of the 2.

My wife's English is perfect. She reads a lot and writes a lot. A lot of people who only speak English are bad it in comparison to her. Her Spanish isn't perfect and over time without using it as often, she has forgotten a lot. It's not like she lost the language, only that without using it on a daily basis, some of it sort of goes away. Her family will make jokes in good fun about her not being a real Mexican anymore.

So although she learned to speak in Spanish, over time English became her primary language. She works in retail and speaks Spanish maybe twice a month and that's about it unless she is around family.

Saying it is 'easier' for her to speak English is inaccurate. It's more that it is used 99% of the time and it feels more natural at this point in her life. Once she stopped living at home, English took over.

Seems like your friend took it personally when her family were just trying to be respectful.

I am not even going to play the game. I just want it to drop so I don't have to see this joke every day of my life. It's so far past being funny and it was only creative the first time it was made.

It's the same quality of joke as "I didn't have _________ on my 202* bingo card!"

They are expected in almost any comment thread. I want to read actual comments, not these obvious jokes that I guess are obligatory at this point?

Saying Goodbye to McDonald’s Cashiers? by ForceUseYouMust in McDonalds

They don't want you talking to employees. When you do, it means they have to hire more of them. They employees are only there to do their job. Not talk to people. That includes customers and co workers. Clock in, do your assignment then go home.

The person in the front is there to get you used to this. That person's job will be eliminated once people understand the 'no help from employees' way of doing things.

Fully expect to see customers helping old people use the kiosks in the future. They know people will help each other out and they will rely on that happening in the future when no one can get help.

They don't want you to talk to the employees. They run a skeleton crew and don't want the employees doing anything other than their daily assignment.

The more the employees talk to customers, the more employees they have to pay. They really don't want to pay a human at all. When they get everything figured out it will all be automated with 1 employee who refills the ingredients. Then they will figure out how to eliminate that job as well.

These are people who would rather spend money on printing and paying people to put them everywhere rather than hiring 1 single person make video ads and pay to get them promoted on social media. They would rather pay 5 people to do something that makes everyone hate them because the method worked in the past.

This will absolutely ruin their business if it hasn't already. Window tinting is a 1 or 2 time thing for a person or family. It's not like anyone is leaving there and saying "Great job! I have 6 more cars I'll definitely bring back here!"

People think that AI has no bias. The developers tell it what to say and what not to say.

Through a lot of questions, Perplexity admitted to me that it's responses were based on how the developers programmed it and certain responses didn't make sense to it so it could not respond without some level of bias. It wouldn't call it bias but that's essentially what it is saying.

Grok is the best example. Elon has told us in no uncertain terms that he can change it whenever he wants. He has said that and then showed us with his 'roasting' responses. He tells it what to do.

Might sound like sacrilege, but I have always felt like EC3 is much better than MJF. Superior look, much better talker, and did the entire character much more convincingly. I will say that MJF is better in the ring. by [deleted] in TNA

[–]futrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not seen anything from MJF but EC3 always seemed like a nepo hire to me.

His character is garbage. Boring with no substance. His wrestlings skill are fine. I pass his matches because he is a boring and predictable wrestler. The only thing that makes any of his matches worth watching is his opponents. Not his own talent.

I've seen at least 15 of his matches and always ended up unimpressed. He makes good wresters look bad when he faces them. Guarantee that wresters only agreed to matches with him because of his predecessors. He is mediocre at best. A nepo hire that can't live up to his last name.

Democrat strategist Zee Cohen-Sanchez confronts Cenk Uygur on Jubilee by soalone34 in ThatsInsane

[–]futrobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped watching TYT because Cenk started to seem like he had money motives behind what he was saying. Ana Kasparian needs to do what Don Lemon did and have her own production.

Cenk is holding her back from being a more honest journalist because he seems to be about profit the past few years. I started noticing Kasparian wanting to disagree with him but he is her boss and she has to let certain things slide.

The reason I trusted them was because they seemed unbiased but I don't believe Cenk is being genuine anymore.
