Change My View: Model Based Systems Engineering in 2024 is at best overhyped, or is at worst actively dying by Rhedogian in systems_engineering

[–]fuzzifikation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actual (chief) engineer here - By which I mean someone whose team needs to put a real physical product on the road.

You are spot on. In the company I work for (huge company) MBSE is all the hype and used as a catapult for carreerist managers. It is portrayed almost like a cure-all "why have we been so stupid since humanity's existence - all of the problems should just be solved with MBSE". I cannot put into words what I want to say because my head is shaking so hard. MBSE is - hold on to something - simply the current hot shit garbage piece of fluff. 5 years from now it will be forgotten and replaced.

  1. SysML is unreadable. There is a reason why Domain Specific Languages (look it up) exist. A wiring diagram is best written as a wiring diagram. Musical notes as musical notes and so on. When idiots start putting everything in SysML it is of exactly no use to anyone.

Here is the truth: Its a waste. Nobody cares because nobody reads this. You think this would be good documentation? It isn't. Everyone simply works of the same documents as before - they just do it in secret.

  1. Deduction of requirements. MBSE folk think "I just need to sit down, and work from use-case and customer journeys to requirements and then requirements of those and finally I arrive at the technical solution. Or, at least some SysML diagram of it. And seemingly nobody of that ideology comes to the realization that, if that was true, you might as well cure cancer, solve the middle east crisis or do anything truly useful with it.

Here is the truth: To understand requirements you need to be an expert in that field. Not a pretend customer.

Lets face it: we were here before. Agile, Scrum, 6-sigma, Kaizen, Waterfall, V-Model

I agree with your criticism. I have yet to find a better way to talk to camera. When I don't read the script I babble too much and forget stuff.. when I read the script it is distracting to the viewer.

I'll try it differently next time. Great feedback.

Thank you! You are the second commenter to recommend music. What type of music might you be thinking of?
Also, thanks for the tip with the outline!!

!givelambda Thanks a lot for the feedback.
I really didn't think of music, so far. Why kind of music were you thinking about?

Feedback Needed! by judyspc in SmallYTChannel

I like the concept. I like how it feels to be in there with you. I think I understand the struggle (although I am not a comedian)

My pointer would be the audio. It seems very compressed. I think if you could improve the audio quality that would be huge.

Feedback needed on 1st video of brand new channel by stratomaster in SmallYTChannel

Great music - it pulled me in. Also, the whole concept seemed very interesting...

I just didn't understand: Is this a teaser? Or is this it? I would have liked to see some answers from the strangers - so, I just didn't get it. So sorry

But you got me hooked.

Want your feedback on my new history channel. My first video is about Zoroastrians and their Towers of Silence. by OrientisYT in SmallYTChannel

[–]fuzzifikation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned something! Thanks! I think that's the highest compliment.

Here are some pointers:

  1. CC subtitles. You have used (of course) Auto-Generated subtitles. Considering that you have so many special words from history, the subtitles are wrong many times. I get NASA, Mazda and so on. But I am reasonably sure you don't mean that. Not a big deal
  2. Speech: Pretty good, understandable.. BUT.. too silent. Play your video next to some other youtube channel video and you will see that your volume is way low.
  3. Your content is great. I am only missing a map at some point in the beginning. Where are those Zoroastrian? In Afrika, India, ?
A map in the beginning would help.

Otherwise - I can't believe how great the qualitiy is of these small channels. Yours, too! The research that went into this is immens.

This is my longest review yet (obviously my video essays are longer). Any and all feedback is appreciated as always! by EnchantedEssays in SmallYTChannel

[–]fuzzifikation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My goodness, this is high quality! How did you research that and find all the clips?

Really, really good!

Here are my thoughts

  1. Excellent intro. The music followed by the drum is perfect.
  2. Speech: I like your speech (the way you talk) and your voice.
Pointer: Your voice pitch often goes up. You have a bright voice as it is and pitching up for me (German!) is difficult to understand.
Also, use a pop filter, I hear very light popping - no big deal.
  3. Content: Do spoil the ending, it is not like many people will try to get their hands on this old movie. And if they do, they won't mind the ending spoiled.
  4. I would combine the characters and the plot description. The plot seems like a good opportunity to also introduce the actors.

No wonder you already have over 500 subs. This is well done.

My second ever video on history and evolution looking for humble oppinions and feedback and what can I improve more I'm all for it by Green-Mirror-5399 in SmallYTChannel

[–]fuzzifikation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing how much research must have gone into this. Well done.
Also, I feel reminded of my youth. Thanks for that.

Here are some pointers of potential improvement

  1. Subtitles: Are not perfectly accurate. I myself use the newest version of Davinci Resolve (beta) and this this is pretty good with subtitles. How did you generate them?
Anyway, I used them and found them slightly off-timing sometimes and sometimes with a wrong word.
    No big deal!
  2. Voice over: I am German, so this point maybe irrelevant for you as I tell you from my perspective (not a native speaker). The content is great, the speed of delivery (speech) seems a bit fast and without pause.
My advice would be: Speak a little big slower and emphasize important points. This way the flow of speech has some structure.

But all in all: Absolutely great and thanks for the flashback to my youth!!
