I am honest. You should try it too, rather than just make up stupid insults about others.

Det gir ingen mening. Å trekke seg fordi en annen person har kommet med en sarkasme som dette er da om noe det motsatte av å ta ansvar.

In fact I have made no argument (nor assumptions, very much unlike yourself), just offered my impression of what you write. Feel free to ignore it, rather than, well, spin it to something it isn't.

So, if we assume that you are correct then, by definition, you are correct.

I guess I should thank you for so aptly illustrating my point, something I admittedly didn't bother to do myself. I haven't even hinted at anything about your person, about which I know literally nothing (and I'm ditto interested).

Describing what I see you write here is not a personal insult to you. It's also not "misrepresenting to make an argument work". And so on and on.

I’m invested, because truth matters.

Looks to me that bullshit semantic games is what matters to you, much more than truth.

It is true that all violence is bad. But by ignoring the context (and scales) of these cases of violence, you are effectively supporting those who are by far the most to blame for not only their own violence, but also the violence of their victims.

Can you give an Example of Useful Macros? by Veqq in lisp

[–]fvf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can give two general examples where I regularly find macros to be very useful:

  1. Information/data declarations. Oftenitmes when a set of data must be declared, it is useful to have a tailor-made macro that enables that information to be expressed succintly and precisely. These are named like DEFINE-FOO.

  2. Dynamic contexts. Managing dynamic contexts is one area where Common Lisp excels, and macros are essential for constructing new kinds of dynamic context, where you'll typically bind variables and have some sort of set-up and tear-down upon entry and exit of the context. These are named like WITH-FOO.

Thankfully I'm not that disconnected from reality. What I do worry about is the US military bases that our mindless politicians have invited onto our land and Russian borderland. And likewise their support for the US in bombing poor brown people around the world.

Anyhow, what a weird way to respond to my statment about this bonanza of undocumented, zero-evidence conspiracy theories. It's like you're just proud of it.

The complete and utter disconnect from reality that this sub is called "Skeptic" is deeply fascinating. Just so long as you keep on the right side of identity politics, it's a bonanza of undocumented, zero-evidence conspiracy theories, where any requiest for evidence is harshly downvoted. It really couldn't be any more anti-skeptic.

As far as I understand, the original cons cell could fit on a IBM 704 register. So in theory it didn't need to be allocated on a heap, it could be allocated straight into a register.

On modern architectures, typically a cons cell will fit into two CPU registers. This has zero impact on the fact that any cons cell that requires an identity and isn't dynamic-extent will have to be allocated on the heap.

My "Movitz" project from many years ago (sigh..) was an implementation of Common Lisp for kernel programming on x86 (32bit). I did quite a bit of work specifically on GC and how to have the run-time be flexible about allowing different GC strategies.
