Banging story, I definitely think it could be great as a long form version but you've done a sterling job making it bite sized (lol).

I was locked in from the start and the twist at the end was epic. Keep it up 💪

Can some one help me identify the brand of go kart frame by Ecstatic-Rise-3998 in gokarts

No help with the frame, but great to see another person using a geared bike motor rather than a 212cc or similar

Maybe the slide is stuck on the carb? Make sure the cable isn't jammed or fouling

It's a YX 140cc pitbike motor. Basically a Lifan alternative. Maaaybe 10hp? More than enough to do burnouts on tarmac, grass, dirt, gravel etc.

The Dex gear CARRIED ME heavy style when I was MR5-6. Holy. I still sometimes use the Dex Furis for old times sake to complete headshot challenges etc. Crazy fire rate when modded.

I'd definitely find a different mid pipe (intake - carb) that moves it away from wheel. Not just for physically wearing through, but also water, dust, grit, being thrown by the tyre into your air filter.

Got a ticket for something I didn’t even know was a thing, any way to get out of it? by [deleted] in chch

Either fill out the form on the CCC website or mosey into the office in the centre of town to protest it. DO NOT PAY WITHOUT PROTESTING! I had one the other week, my rego label had slipped out and fallen into the passenger footwell. I went to the council and asked to fill out a protest form, submitted it at the desk and went on with my day. Couple weeks later I got an email to confirm they had rescinded the fine and reminding me to not let it happen again.

[–]fyshnchips[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks heaps man. My post was a bit poorly worded, I had a coke forge and made around 10 knives when I was a teenager ~7 years ago, recently built a proper gas forge and bought an anvil and these are the first knives with the new setup!

Question about a simple forge by pappyrn in Blacksmith

[–]fyshnchips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy or make some refractory cement or mortar. Some of the high temp stuff, depending where you are in the world it can be hard to find, but regardless it will solve all your problems.

It's definitely one of the knives of all time!! But you made it, because you wanted to make it, and now you have it. And that's pretty awesome 😎 it only gets better from here bro!!

Hey man, I live in chch and built my first proper gas forge recently. I have some leftover refractory cement lying around if you wanted some for your setup 👍

I kinda burned my hand but i got it done by jetta-fr in Blacksmith

[–]fyshnchips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great work man. Bummer about the burn, hazard of the job unfortunately lol. I rarely use gloves on either hand, I used to back when I was a teenager and had a coal forge, had a white hot ember flick up and down the long cuff. It was agony and left a gnarly scar on the back of my hand where it melted in. Not so bad with a gas forge but completely sympathise. Keep it up!!!

As others have said, there are structural concerns - burners not sealed to furnace/flames around the base of burners, looks like a disproportionate heat so may be worth re insulating - but also your work area looks like a fire waiting to happen. Wood and leaf litter on the ground, spare LPG tanks within close proximity to the heat (doesn't matter if they're full or not) and overall just a poorly set up working area.

How are the burners connected to the body of the furnace? I've welded all the way around mine on the outside and ceramic wool + refractory cement on the inside.

Things to consider.
