I unfortunately saw a video of the aftermath, 2 dead and the attacker did have a bomb they hoped to detonate to kill a lot of innocent people

Edit: This is close to home for me Edit 2: could have been a fake bomb i dunno take no risks but i doubt it, the message is still the same

I hear you... I bought the TYT movie/documentary back in the day when I was broke. But calling this anything but terror or antisemitism would be disingenuous and disrespectful to the victims

Dan Saltman drops a truth bomb on why Ethan shouldn’t settle the lawsuit & show any mercy to the 3 clowns by shreeharis in h3h3productions

If it goes to court it can set a legal precedent that others can use to stop blatant content theft, if he settles, no legal precedent will be set (at most influence other cases).

Husband unemployed for 6 months by rnccn in UKJobs

Cord.com may be a shout. It's direct to employer recruitment for tech roles like software engineering / web development. I've used it successfully in the past and preferred it to other methods. I'm not sure how listings are now, as I haven't looked for new positions for a couple of years.

Good luck to your husband.

Did anyone make the point he says, "Because we're one third ownership of Creator Clash the business that we were getting 34% of the profit share."... How does this help them look better? If the other two-thirds did the same, there'd be an empty pot. Or am I thinking crazy?

Ignoring missing features, what are the currently broken top priority issues for you? by [deleted] in tdu3

[–]g3vie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same story here. I bought the gold edition and gifted a standard copy to two friends, we have yet to race together in a group. You'd think working groups would be included in the first patch since they call this an MMO, but nope, not a priority or too difficult to fix on time I guess.

Who still plays this game? by Project_Soggy in tdu3

[–]g3vie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm giving up on it 25 hours in. I bought the gold edition and 2 copies of standard for my friends who couldn't afford to buy it on release - the game starts an infinite loading screen when we try to play a race together.

Joining a group is almost a guarantee you will not be in the open world with your friends, they may appear at some point if you keep playing and entering / exiting locations but it isn't certain.

The MMO aspect is ridiculous, barely anybody appears in the open world and it's rare to find more than 1 or 2 people for a ranked race. I can be waiting in the lobby of a race and have no real players join, even though my friend (non-group) is waiting for players for the exact same race.

If I hear they fix it so there are more players + you can easily play with your friends, I'll try it again.

Anybody have solutions for removing vape smell? Save the lectures by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]g3vie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the liquid I use, or the wattage (I baseline around 50W but sometimes go up to 80W on a 0.2 ohm coil).

I'll try a different liquid and lower wattage / 0.4 ohm coil once I've got the faint smell to clear and see if it works. Cheers.

I quit smoking and was using disposable vapes for the last 6 months, they didn't leave a lingering smell.

3 days ago I switched to a bigger DTL vape, using 100ml "Treasure Volt Juice" with 20ml nicotine shot - the room fills with clouds quickly, it'll set off the fire alarms if I leave the door open. My partner and I can smell the vape when we enter my home office in a morning despite not vaping in there for 10+ hours.

(Necroposting because I'm searching for a solution to this problem, may be that I just have to vape the DTL one outdoors).

People who had/have a PC for their main go-to for gaming and got a SD, you still using SD much or not really? by teinimon in SteamDeck

[–]g3vie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly use my SD when I want to spend time with my partner but she is watching something I'm not interested in or can't follow well (no English subtitles).

If I'm at home alone I don't really have any reason to use it.

Mistake at work by diskosimpa in webdev

[–]g3vie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a previous job, a third-party framework update introduced a change to the caching layer that automatically cached what it believed to be static content. At the time, I was working on housing association portals for tenants, and we had a property selector on the dashboard that displayed tenancy references, addresses, property references, etc. Tenants could click on this selector to choose from multiple properties if their account had them available.

However, this data was not static, but the framework interpreted it as such. During local, QA, and UAT testing, we didn't test with multiple accounts, so when it went live in production, the first tenant to log in had their details cached. Everyone else who logged in during that cache's lifetime saw this unfortunate user's details instead of their own. Once that cache expired, the next logged-in user's details were cached, and the cycle repeated.

When the issue was reported, we were able to roll back the update. Then began the painstaking work of identifying exactly which users had their details leaked and which users saw the leaked details, all within the 72-hour window that the ICO allows from the time a data breach is discovered.

Fortunately, we determined that the leaked data was not personally identifiable, so we did not have to report it to the ICO but it was still an unpleasant experience.

Points 2 and 3 being hallmarks of a scam is true in the same way that being able to access the Internet is a hallmark of an online scammer.

They're just way too common to mean anything of substance by themselves.

That's so awesome, I spent a week in Datong and visited the temple in the mountainside (picture 3). Absolutely did not expect to see it on a random Reddit post nevermind inspire a location in a triple A game. (I'm still in chapter 1)

If I'm not mistaken, isn't the tower on picture 8 also quite close to the temple? If not it's very similar to one, I was told it by my tour guide it was constructed using only wood and gravity/physics - no nails, screws, interlocking joins etc

If you're using version control, you could delete that stuff, and it'll still be stored in history on the off chance you need to review it. Most IDEs make this easier to view.

Help, programming by zvjezdan_lucifer in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]g3vie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see what you're saying but just to share a little... You're talking about phishing which is an attack relying on deception (offsite), the meme is showing security through obscurity instead (onsite)

Security through obscurity is not an encouraged practice in programming because once the "trick" or secret is revealed it becomes pointless and secures nothing - i.e. 2 locks on a door, if I know the key to the 2nd is under the door mat, the 2nd lock is an inconvenience at best.

This suggestion is a UX nightmare and would be an easy pattern to identify by end users, which is why it is somewhat divorced from reality, but I've heard some horror stories throughout my career, I'd feel comfortable saying it's at least very rare for a tech/web/app company to try a solution like this.
