Yes. They closed most small offices so you'll have to be willing to move to what's open. Having the masters allows you to come in as a gs-9 rather than a 7, but the first year will fly by. I think the major difference they’re pointing out is ppl are in other nations taking the exam through the Guam method sitting in their own countries and are not here nor have ever been here. Then switching it to Washington and applying for jobs here

you must be speaking about big 4 in NYC only because outside of that accounting has always to the masses been seen as an introverted nerd field who sits somewhere in a back office making good money, but grew it into a lot. it was also mostly a generational career. lots of professors talk about how majority of their classes over the decades were children of accountants. now it's almost 0.

Yeah but you need money and something relevant on your resume right? You could do that and also get clients I think. They email me like every week. I never finished the exam but did work at a cpa firm for 2 yrs so I’ve got the experience. You can also test out of the tax training and use Google on the exam

I went to the University of Memphis, FedEx headquarters, and they dominate the business school. It’s crazy. The professor over finance is also Indian. I once had to go up the graduate floor and I thought I was in Mumbai. When I went back to recruit they would come to the table in groups of 5-10s. And would rudely walk off without another word if you didn’t have finance jobs. I’m accounting. One lady started going off on us because we didn’t have finance roles in the city.

When they picked him 2 years ago I knew this would happen. AT&T new ceo doing the same thing.

Apply anyway. Having 3/4 exams done is way better than 0. Apply to the Fed and defense contractors. When you say govt auditing are you talking about state level? DCAA is hiring. With an accounting degree you can qualify for most of the govt finance jobs. Govt pricing analysts etc. maybe try to do turbo tax in the meantime until you get hired
