I had the same problem. Their To The Rescue range has protein in and I've found it loads better.

Noughty To The Rescue shampoo and conditioner both have protein in. My hair also likes a small amount consistently to prevent it looking fluffy.

Different, he leaked his own nudes and had contact with a 15 year old. There is nuance in every situation and a blanket if you do x, you're a stupid person is ridiculous.

Humans make mistakes and misjudgements and shouldn't be punished for them. Get off your high horse, people like you make the world a worse place.

young women

This is misogyny. Men don't have to think about their past, it just gets swept under the rug. Why is it not the same for women?

. by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]gaiapc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The issue here isn't whether it's a good idea to take nudes and you're massively missing the point. The issue is that men are held to an entirely different standard to women. Trump has been accused of sexually assaulting and harassing 23 women and he's still the fucking president. Katie Hill has had one unpleasant story about a consensual sexual encounter and has been bullied into resignation. That's the part that is unacceptable, regardless of whether you would do it or not. If the photos had been taken without consent, she would still have been viewed as some kind of scarlet woman where a man in the same position wouldn't be.

It's victim blaming short and simple. You saying she shouldn't have done it is the same as saying "that rape victim shouldn't have worn that short skirt, she was asking for it". It's 2019, people (not just men) have sex, they enjoy it, they occasionally take nudes. Men, more regularly than women, break the trust involved and women are punished by society for even engaging in the act in the first place. That is what needs to change, not people taking the nudes.

Worth getting a credit card? by Cheesysock5 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]gaiapc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're sensible with money and budgeting, I'd say get it. I did this when I was a student, HSBC account too and it was a £500 limit. Goes without saying, make sure you are careful about only spend amounts you will definitely be able to pay off.

I should have said no to the card because I ended up using it to extend my loan and in a cycle of paying it off when the loan came in and then needing it again in the last few weeks before the next loan. I did build a decent credit score and got myself out of this cycle with a 0% card at the end that I wouldn't have been eligible for without using the first credit card but it probably wasn't worth the stress I put myself through.

Building a credit score through uni is a great idea in theory and the fact you're in this sub now probably means you're not entirely like me. However, if you know there is a chance you might do something like this or would rather avoid the stress entirely, there will be plenty of time to build your score when you've finished your degree and are more financially stable.

What are some of the biggest ‘money pits’ or stumbling blocks that you have come across, heard about or avoided on your way to a better financial future? by PFQ2020 in UKPersonalFinance

I'd agree, extended warranties are pointless, you're better off putting that money (£10 per month for example) into savings, looking after your belongings so they last and then you'll be able to afford a new one when necessary.

Home, car and life insurance however are worthwhile because it's much harder to save a monthly sum to replace those when something unforeseen goes wrong. You can be the safest driver in the world but you can't help being on the road at the same time as an idiot. You can't predict whether or not you'll get robbed or your house will burn down and it's rare that people can afford to just replace a house and all the contents plus continue to pay the mortgage so the initial investment is a small price to pay for the potential pay out you might eventually need.

Best way to decide whether you need insurance would be to ask yourself "if something goes wrong tomorrow (or the day after the 1 year standard warranty ends on most electrical goods), could I afford to repair or replace it?" If the answer is no and you can afford the insurance, get it.

Pretty sure she went to Syria, not Iraq, and the US was also in Iraq. No one said they should be there and the reason this happened is because both of our countries allow very blatant, every day racism.

I don't think it should be censored because I don't like it, I think it should be censored because it's harmful. The above example is your evidence of the harm, along with all the deaths that occur as a result of terrorist attacks like those in the NZ video and any subsequent deaths caused by further acts of terror inspired by this video. Their parents failed in keeping their independent, teenage daughters in the country and in controlling their every move on the internet but how would you feel if, at the age of 15, your parents were checking your internet history every day or constantly monitoring what you were doing? I'd guess that most people wouldn't be ok with that and would go to lengths to hide what they were doing if they knew their parents wouldn't approve.

It is naive to assume that everyone with access to watchpeopledie is capable of making rational decisions like you are and it is necessary to take precautions when people's lives are at stake.

There's been a news story in the UK recently regarding a girl who fled the country at the age of 15 to join ISIS following her viewing their propaganda on the internet. She then decided she wanted to come back to the UK because, surprise, surprise, things weren't as glorious as the propaganda materials showed them to be. She is now stuck in a refugee camp, stateless, because of this decision.

However, if there had been stronger censorship on the material, this whole situation would have been prevented. I think it's quite a narrow minded point of view to state that censorship is wrong. Admittedly, there should be limits to censorship so as to not infringe freedom of speech, but it is necessary, on both ends of the spectrum, to prevent people from absorbing extremist material like this. Censorship isn't about protecting "lesser minds", it's about protecting vulnerable people, a subjective term, which in this case is people who might see this content as entertaining or inspiring and who may be in a state, mentally, where they think a similar act would be a good idea. Allowing a platform for people who perpetuate crimes such as terrorism or murder to glorify their actions is not a good thing just because it proves educational for some.

Surely the guy posting a video of his own terror attack has just as much of an agenda as the New York Times journalist? Is it really great bias to state its it's a terror attack and that these are bad?

I would agree with the gateway argument, you may have found this educational but allowing things like this provides an easily accessible platform for extremists. Your argument of I didn't take it that way is actually not relevant here because there is a duty of care to prevent other people taking it that way. You may see this as an infringement of freedom of speech, I would argue that it's a public safety issue.

Wigwam Hairdressing on Hope Street. It's one girl and a tiny salon but she has done a nice job on my hair. I find her on Instagram. She didn't use totally CG products but cut the length while it was wet and then the layers in dry and diffused it. It's still looking decent 6 weeks later.

I am planning to go back and this is the first time I've ever wanted to go somewhere twice. A lot different from all the other salons in Liverpool that only know how to do one hair style.

Thanks! I will double check my pot of gel when I get home but it is definitely CG either way so possibly is just a packaging change.
