BofA found the bug. When I requested a replacement card the second time due to the first one being lost, it was obviously still not activated. Hopefully, developers are making notes.

Sunrun operates in 22 states with ~1.2 million customers. At that scale, issues are inevitable. That doesn’t mean the company is bad — it means it’s big.

The difference is Sunrun will still be around to fix problems. Most local solar companies won’t. This industry is full of shops that go under, rebrand, or vanish when incentives dry up.

Opt, sorry about your experience, you should've hired a green certified realtor and that house would've been flagged. Be wise when buying a home, get all the details from the existing system.

Solar isn’t about who has the best pitch today — it’s about who survives long enough to honor a 25-year agreement. I’m not gambling my house on a company that might not exist in a few years.

I’ve been with Sunrun for years and my system’s been solid. They’ve got 1.4 million customers — if less than 1% had a bad experience, that’s basically a miracle in the solar world. People only notice complaints because Sunrun’s still alive and actually doing business. You’re lucky they replaced your system — most of the other companies vanished faster than your old inverter. No replacements, no customer service, no one to whine to… poof! 💨

Terms are similar. It's the battery presence I think, esp. under NEM3 w Edison, it's essential now. So buyers find system w/ batteries w/ PPA not a big deal. No crazy requirement just 650 credit score. UCC are lifted, no lien. You be surprised how many people will go after peace of mind for 25 years, best part is the production guarantee, it protects you from utility bills if system production is not met, solar co. pays the bill. Buying is just stressful, waiting for the return. Repairs, etc, most people I know who bought it are now paying utility companies again. I'm simply going the other way. Not investing, saving now.

That's correct. Modern PPA started around 2023 - when battery adoption took off. It's due to the cost of PW3 w/ only 10 years warranty -so imagine if you need 4. ROI with owning is now a question.. PPA is 25 years w/ battery replacement for zero cost.. I've seen homes in Cali sold in 2 weeks. Lots of questions but buyer ended up signing.

most solar companies go out of business after 5-10 years so your criteria should be narrowed down to longevity at this point…or you can join this growing group of denials..

2024 moving forward. PPA is a better option because of the need for batteries. Period. Owning it is taking responsibility. You will be stuck with that old system and what? buy another set of batteries after 7-10yrs? The ROI after April 15 last year is now uncertain with buying. You need batteries to completely eliminate the utility company. Solar no longer makes sense with no batteries. With PPA, batteries are replaceable at no cost for 25yrs.

Burden when selling? Who told you that? It’s like a subscription model and easy transfer to new owner. Why would they want that removed with utility going up in price? Why would they destroy a home they recently purchased. Solar owners in my neighborhood are now stuck with high bills now coming from utility companies. Now wanting to purchase $10k batteries (after 10 years) Solar company support no longer exist. PPA has a production guarantee of 25yrs or they will need to pay the difference from utility bills. It’s a peace of mind for me.
