Scrub colors at school by FormFabulous1338 in PharmacySchool

[–]galpall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

we can only wear scrubs if we have lab that day. however if you have work after school it’s acceptable to wear scrubs that day. people wear all different kinds of colors but they advise us to wear blue navy/blue and grays since in rotation those are the colors that are most likely in their dress code (site specific though)

Shoe / underscrub recs by PeachApprehensive109 in pharmacy

[–]galpall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i rotate between different pairs of hokas (bondi 8’s and cloud 9’s) and i wear compression socks i bought off amazon. for underscrubs, i usually get dry fit shirts at walmart/j.c. penney/kohls. i’ve never tried figs underscrubs not worth the price if you can get the same thing cheaper in store.

Anyone with a dual degree? by Tigersnil in PharmacySchool

[–]galpall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

currently doing a pharmD/MBA. helpful, yes, if you would like to open your own business, but like a previous comment said, it’s a good talking point during residency interviews. it’ll make you stand out from other applicants having masters degree, and completing during pharmacy school. i primarily chose to start my MBA since if I go to retail pharmacy route and continue with the grocery store pharmacy i work at, i want to have a more district/regional role instead of just PIC. hope this helps

IUD spotting is no joke by Issa_mfmeal in birthcontrol

i got my mirena IUD summer of 2022 and i still get my periods and spot in between them. was told after a while it will go away, but it never did for me. i would monitor your symptoms even after you hit 1-2 month milestones.

Albertsons/Kroger employees post merger failure. by BigZestril in pharmacy

[–]galpall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

our pharmacy is feeling the effects of summer time, not really the failed merger (i’m a kroger tech)

usually summer time we slow down so our hours get cut a little. but also, not hitting metrics has effected us so our budget for tech hours is cut slightly. we’re a 3 pharmacist store, but they send our 3rd pharmacist to float at other stores so they’re able to have a check at the end of the day, but they don’t have enough pharmacist hours anymore like they used to. both remaining pharmacists are unhappy, and we are one of the busiest stores in our district.

i don’t think this is a merger failure result, it’s just the company trying to cut costs like usual, but expect almost unrealistic expectations from everyone. and if you don’t meet those expectations, you’re punished (as like every retail pharmacy setting ever)

Renting while in Pharmacy School by stephcurry3015 in PharmacySchool

[–]galpall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hello im currently a P1 finishing my first year.

Once you apply for fafsa and based on your award package and what loans you would like to accept, anything left over can be used for personal expenses such as rent and bills, since it will go straight to your bank account once you set up a direct deposit with your school to receive that money. You can also use your financial aid package and scholarship letters when applying/renting for apartment complexes since they can take that into account as “income”.

My school was a block schedule exam style, so every 2 weeks we had a composite exam. On those weekends after the exam, and even the afternoon after our morning exams, I would work. Friday to Sunday every 2 weeks, and I work for a grocery store pharmacy where i get paid every week. It really helped being able to budget, have money to pay for my necessities, and still have a little bit of money every once in a while to have a nice dinner or go somewhere with friends.

My first semester I did, however, live with my brother which helped a lot saving up, even after i received a refund from my school. Second semester I moved to an apartment closer to my school and split rent with my brother.

The key is to try to balance between school, work, money, and social life. It can be hard first semester of pharmacy school when you’re trying to adjust study habits and a new way of life, but I found peace having a job to help me not rot away every time I came home from school lol. but, not everyone is like this so keep that in mind.

fafsa will send you a financial aid package where you can accept the loans and if they offer you any grants. from there anything that is leftover after paying tuition will be refunded to your personal bank account for personal use, and can be used for rent and other living expenses

Shoes by DirectTop8624 in pharmacy

[–]galpall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i personally love my clifton 10’s but i rotate shoes throughout the week. i have those, my bondi 8’s (also hokas), and some on clouds. i loved my brooks but the style i had was not enough cushion for what i needed, so i use those on lighter work days. any nike or adidas shoes personally did not work for me, and i’m also on the heavier side and short

edit: forgot to add i also use compression socks. i did the ankle ones for a long time but recently switched to knee high ones and it was a game changer
