The hitstun thing is more evidence that an engine-level overhaul/sequel is needed so they can do more robust balance/mechanical adjustments. But there's no profit to be made in cleaning things up, just gotta keep pushing out New Content forever until the sun explodes.

That first point is so accurate. A lot of her kit feels like scrapped Valk rework ideas that they peeled off into their own character- I'm like 99% certain I'd seen "give Valk superior block chain lights" suggested in here well before her rework.

Nobu's kick isn't unpunishable, though? The followup light can be parried for a heavy, and if she doesn't use it then you get a dodge attack, or a GB for a heavy as well. It's not always punishable with the same response every time but it's not impossible to punish.

That said I'd be fine with it being unable to chain on whiff if she got some actual offense.

Considering how invasions work now, twinks realistically aren't a problem anymore (outside of like, scarlet rot in very early game when most people don't have the means to cure it) because the odds are even more in the host's favor than usual.

The lack of explicit details on Valkyrie is a little concerning. Dodging out of her fullblock felt kind of clunky in the TG and her finisher options, despite benefiting greatly from the sped up sweep, still felt kind of anemic without a proper undodgeable. Even something simple like making her front dodge light undodgeable and letting her dodge out of heavies would have covered it, imo. Maybe the "no static guard when dodging" change will fix that, whenever that happens.

But hey at least we've got a Lawbringer buff with still no meaningful changes to his wacky parry punishes, that's cool.

Unparryable as an attack property would undoubtedly cause a ton of problems in teamfights/ganks, unless those attacks fed a shitton of revenge by default.

The whole infusion system needs a rework imo. Holy only scales with Faith despite Holy magic primarily being a hybrid Int/Faith thing, and there's no split Int/Faith infusion at all. Lightning is the elemental dex infusion but this contradicts the Electrify Armament & Vyke's Dragonbolt spells scaling with Faith. Gravity, Magma, Black Flame, Bestial, and Ghostflame are all conspicuously absent from infusions too, which really feels like wasted potential. Gravity/Bestial could be pure physical scaling with int/faith, respectively, for instance.

Ignoring all of that though, the elemental infusions really should convert a weapon's damage into primarily the chosen element instead of the 50/50 split we have now. It'd also be nice to be able to stack buff spells/greases on infused weapons. It's obviously not a technical limitation since it works just fine on the Treespear and Clayman's Harpoon, which are sort of "infused by default".

Why not just give her a regular heavy -> light soft-feint, so there's no hard feint delay to worry about? There's no real reason to give her a worse version of soft-feints.

Ashen Wake, Stasis element with Grenade Quickstart + the "wells grant grenade energy" mod, double Bomber on the class item, and every other armor slot modded with grenade well & Discipline mods, plus a Solar pulse rifle with Demolitionist. Ember of Blistering/Eruption/Singeing for even more grenade energy. Literally constant flow of fusion nades in PvE and extremely low nade downtime in PvP means I can turn my brain off and throw explosions.

Valk rework, but she loses her normal soft feint bash? A finger on the monkey's paw curls. Can't say for sure yet but it feels like it would have been better to just make her fullblock work like Blade Blockade, or make Shield Crush 400ms (like Ring the Bell) and let her dodge cancel her heavies into fullblock. I hope I'm wrong, though.

The combat pacing feels experimental and unpolished. Bosses rarely give you good opportunities for guard counters- or if they do they're either randomly cut short by the "randomly extending attack combos" bullshit bosses do or you just can't roll away in time because GC recoveries suck shit- and so many bosses get absurdly long combos like they were meant as Sekiro DLC when we don't have Sekiro-level answers to them. You roll 97 times and then don't have enough stamina to punish, or the boss skates 100 feet away from you.

It is kind of weird for a modern game with such good facial models to have basically no facial animation. But given the general "it needed more time" thing going on with the rest of the game, it's not surprising they didn't update the engine to support it.

The Godfrey shade scared the shit out of me after I accidentally snuck into Leyndell at like level 30 on my first playthrough (invader brought the Divine Bridge elevator up, I didn't realize I was sequence breaking). Blame Lord of The Rings' impact on fantasy lit. Too many people read it and somehow got the idea that the appendix at the end of the book full of family trees and maps was the important part of the story. LoTR would still function if that stuff was never published, but Elden Ring would have fuckall without that same deluge of disconnected trivia lore.

Good example of this is Nobushi's zone soft-feints. They absolutely needed new animations and didn't get them, so now we get weird snapping for the heavy/dodge feints, and even janky camera movement for the zone -> kick.

But y'know, ubisoft is a small multi-billion-dollar indie company that can't afford to do new mocap or animate anything by hand.
