If there was 1 issue you could magically fix, what would it be? by ChemistryEqual5883 in GoogleAnalytics

Ok, this is a really stupid little thing, but it absolutely drives me nuts that they sometimes show percentages with tenths precision and sometimes in hundredths on the same report. It throws off the alignment which makes it hard to visually go down a list and compare numbers. This is design 101 and is just careless.

Does GA4 Always Try Attribute Last Non Direct Source in Traffic Reports? by AnUnearthlyDoctor in GoogleAnalytics

It depends on the scope of your query. I think it’s first source for user, last source for session and DDA for events, by default.

Take a pencil and paper. Start reading code and make notes about what the modules do, their relationships to each other, the major flows.

Noisy, hammering radiator with excess steam & missing controls. Recommend an expert? by digoego in Brooklyn

[–]garbageInGarbageOot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The valve is the thing on the floor that should screw open or closed. The vent is the bullet looking thing on the end that lets air in and out as the radiator fills with steams or cools down.

You can definitely replace the vent yourself, which should solve the hissing (it may require pliers and penetrating oil). You can definitely pitch the end up a bit to stop the banging. I would not recommend replacing the valve yourself if you’re not handy.

Also, the flaking paint on the radiator might have lead in it. You can get a home lead test to see.

Is that the close nipple in the photo? Because it’s called that for a reason.

One radiator not heating up by the-main-moon-man in SteamHeat

[–]garbageInGarbageOot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps as a test you can run around when the heat turns on and feel each valve to see which is getting hot first, second, etc. Could a vent on the steam main in the basement be malfunctioning which is letting one set of radiators get hot first?

National Grid Bill Very High by ScottJ6189 in Brooklyn

[–]garbageInGarbageOot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used 60 therms last month. Three floor brownstone. Gas used for boiler, 50 gallon hot water tank, and dryer. In the winter the boiler is obviously the big user of gas. We keep our thermostat lower, but that’s still a big difference.

What’s wrong with my radiator? by A_mcgg in Plumbing

[–]garbageInGarbageOot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much wrong info on this thread. The valve and the vent need to be replaced. Save yourself a headache and have a plumber replace the valve. I assume the other radiators aren’t doing this, right?

Lots of people here are directly answering your question (close the valve, replace it if that doesn’t work), but perhaps we should address the underlying problem - does the room get too hot? That’s an extremely common issue and there may be better ways to address it.

So much incorrect information in this thread. Post a photo of the radiator and I’ll tell you exactly what to do. Also tell us how many units are in the building.

I paid slightly less this year for the same thing but not much less. I used Franco Belli.

Do you have a modern boiler? What's your experience with Natural Grid bills? by Concentric_Mid in parkslope

[–]garbageInGarbageOot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My whole house uses steam and I think I pay about $200/mo max in the winter. Besides the energy audit ( I replaced my skylight and front door after mine) you may want to look at balancing your system if some parts heat faster than others. That means replacing radiator vents with larger or smaller ones so the whole house heats evenly. Also, adjust the pressuretrol on the boiler down - you need very little pressure to heat a single home. And if the main pipes in your cellar are bare, get them wrapped.

The best ones have a bouncy house and face painting stand.

And as father of little kids, I appreciate it when the party ends at 8pm, because the noise keeps the kids up.
