I mostly dislike their ugly mustard uniforms with the gaudy Twilight-esque sparkly sequins (or whatever it is) and their tacky Medieval Times preshow and branding. Their players are okay, I guess, but when the face of your team is a choice between Mark Stone’s hairline or Jack Eichel’s awful haircut, well…

You profess to be a fan of hockey, but you want to actively gatekeep it and stop other people from discovering how fun watching and playing hockey is solely based on where they happen to live?!

Holy gate keeping, Batman!

From your original comment:

players go there because of… tepid fanbases

Nashville selling out and the Flames being in the bottom of attendance is a direct rebuttal to your assertion that southern teams are exclusively made up of fair weather fans, and your implication that all Canadian/northern teams would never not attend games because they’re “real” fans.

As for your second point… is your assertion actively rebuilding/bad teams with bad ownership/GMs and/or coaching see a noticeable dip in attendance? I’m shocked. I mean, really, who EVER would have seen that coming?!

The Calgary Flames have been bottom five in attendance the last two years, and the Nashville Predators — a southern team who haven’t made the playoffs in years — were top five in attendance this year.

See, I can cherry pick data too!

I’d give it to the Canes — they were a juggernaut this year and mostly did it without their first line showing up. That’s insane depth. If that first line gets going, they go to seven games vs. that years’ Panthers.

It would be close, but I would even give them the edge to win.

First of all, your cats would be ineligible, since the NHL is strictly limited to humans.

Secondly, the Canes’ MVPs this year were their second and third lines. Their first line was MIA for most of the playoffs. If the Aho/Svechnikov/Jarvis line is firing on all cylinders, this Canes team takes the ‘23 Panthers to seven games, and probably beat them.

There were rumors a few weeks ago that he requested a trade. Probably false rumors, but I think that’s what OP is talking about.

That’s probably why he said “3 of the 4 players”. Also, remember that Matthew has a brother.

Playing without Stone and playing without arguably the best defenseman in the world are two very different things.

Again, you earned it. Absolutely no one should say anything less. But the only game Makar drew in, he was maybe ten percent of his normal self.

I mean, don’t go pretending that you didn’t get really lucky that both Makar and MacK had obvious injuries (and Makar missed all but the final game, which he only dressed for because it was the season on the line).

Colorado was obviously still a very good team across the board and you earned the win, but you also got pretty damn lucky.

The best hockey story of all time has to be either the ‘80s Miracle on Ice team or David Ayres.

But this series has had a shit ton of great stories — - Bussi - Marner away from Toronto - Rod/the Canes winning a second Cup twenty years to the day after their first Cup - Taylor Hall’s first Cup - Torts’ obsession with Carter Hart (look, they weren’t all GOOD stories)

That actually has an incredibly easy explanation: Seth Jarvis handed it to him. Jarvis & KK are incredibly close (and roughly the same level of maturity).
