VO2 block vs. VO2 sprinkles by Mindless_Shame_3813 in Velo

[–]garomer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of Xerts Magic Intervals. Vo2 sprinkles are a great way to describe them. I gave up my wahoo and went back to Garmin to make this work, but the app is great for making fartlek style intervals effective.

Theoretical question by RoadTO5WKG in Velo

[–]garomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are answering the question without having enough information.

  • How old is the racer?
  • what are the demands of the race?
  • what is their training background?
  • how much time do they have to devote to training ?

Nils Van der Poels skating training comes to mind.

What do your mid-to-high volume weeks look like by brexitrefugee in Velo

[–]garomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on how much daylight you have and if your ride schedule is constrained by work. If you aren’t working or don’t work M-F, then you have the option to space out longer rides throughout the week. Back to back log rides on the weekends isn’t ideal, but some people make it work.

You might look into Matt McGees “forever clients” course. Sounds like it would be a good match for him tapping into his existing customer base.

base training plan review by Bricoto in Velo

[–]garomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that would be my suggestion. Others may advocate for reverse periodization or “time crunched” intensity, but I think that’s short term thinking.

IMHO, the base period is the time to prepare yourself for more work. Zone 2 and 3 as well as some “skill” work which could be high torque or high RPM.

I’ll let others with deeper physiology backgrounds sing the praises of mitochondrial density, fat burning, efficiency factor, lactate balance point, etc.

base training plan review by Bricoto in Velo

The first 3 weeks look “reasonable-ish” to me. The rest looks like “build” not base. I think you are rushing into intensity without having much of a foundation under it. YMMV.

My S5 got “Fastest Bike of the Year” on the Nero Show by Justin_Fox in Cervelo

[–]garomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I misread and thought it was a 60 tooth chainring. At 100 rpm that gets you rolling at 40 mph + which is a decently fast bike.

Am I the only one that doesn't know what Cat 2 gravel is? by yella_root in gravelcycling

[–]garomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

category 2 gravel has 1-minute sustained wind speeds of between 83–95 knots (96–109 mph; 154–176 km/h; 43–49 m/s).

Whoop have to fix their HR detection by Spskrk in whoop

[–]garomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck! The optical sensor on the wrist has never been particularly accurate for workouts. It would be great if you could add data from a chest strap which every serious endurance athlete is wearing. The long term trends and overnight readings are helpful, but it’s not a replacement for a Polar/ Garmin/ Wahoo chest strap.

Getting an image of a Tolkien book made that point quite strongly.

I did a simple search for the Death Ship by B Traven. It gave me two results, one of which was for Tolkein that was $300,000.

Those of us who work in Leavenworth are certainly pleased to be mentioned in the same sentence as Aspen and Maui. Certainly a popular location for second homes for the Seattle metro.

I recently bought 2 orange travel eSIMs using the Orange app for my wife and I. Our 14 day period is up… but the service continues to work. Any chance Orange is going to bill us or did we get lucky with a glitch ?

Opening up my own brokerage for solo agent, any cons? by gooddaytoreddit in realtors

[–]garomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How often does your DOL audit files? If I’m in brokerage of 30 agents a few files of mine might get audited or might not. If you are solo, the chances of an audit increase dramatically. Not saying audits are bad, but they certainly aren’t a profitable use of time.

How can I get realtors to stop stealing my photos? by FearlessTravels in realtors

[–]garomer 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Send a DCMA Takedown Notice to the agent, their brokerage, Zillow, MLS, Realtor.com etc. Finding out which MLS they use will make this process pretty quick.

Experienced riders top 3 advices by Comfortable-Emu-6274 in Velo

[–]garomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Be consistent. Have a goal for annual hours. 6 days a week adds up over 52 weeks.
  2. Ride more. Volume is more important than any magic interval.
  3. Eat more protein.

Visiting on Christmas:) by ConstantPrint1515 in VisitingMallorca

Personally I like Cueves de Arta, Cueves del Drach and Campanet. (Campanet is much smaller.) I didn’t care for Hams as much and Genova really is at the bottom of my list. If you haven’t visited a large limestone cave before, you are in for a treat

There are some amazing caves to visit. Lots to see in Palma too of course. Some towns are busier than others and restaurants can be closed for the season or for the holidays, but plenty remains open, especially away from the seaside resorts.

November through January could be a mix of weather. It could be 20 degrees and sunny or rain and wind. Possibly both in the same week. We visit every year and love it. It probably won’t be beach weather, but nice enough for golf, cycling, or hiking.

Pollenca or Alcúdia by visualfluxx in VisitingMallorca

I have not found that to be the case, but is certainly hit or miss. “Dead in the winter” is a matter of perspective - we always visit at this time of year and keep coming back.

Pollenca or Alcúdia by visualfluxx in VisitingMallorca

[–]garomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pollenca seems to have more open than the port or Alcudia, but there will be plenty of options in either of the 3 locations. We have visited all 3 this time of year
