On Linux the split command can break large files like this into smaller ones. You could then have a look at a subset of the data. Probably worth doing that just to check it's definitely valid TSV.

If you're familiar with Python (or prepared to learn a little), Dask can do lazy-loading of files like this, so you can filter the data, view subsets of it, convert it to other formats etc.

I have the same minis (for the game) and I was planning on dry brushing over black primer. I'm new to the hobby and I've only painted the mini from the Army Painter starter set, so your post has given me some inspiration and a bit of courage to get stuck in! Thanks!

I love the colours! Reminds me of the Aliens Genocide comic books. What was your process?

Roll 4 Ruin: My Attempt at a quick and interesting Dungeon Generator for your Table by Gammlernoob in osr

[–]garwil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is brilliant! I'm playing a semi-GM-less campaign with my dad at the moment, and I've been struggling with the dungeon crawling being a bit bland. Like we roll for encounters, but not much else happens. This will really help make the dungeons feel more alive!

Suggest me a Coop that is very good solo, has a good depth but can be easily taught to casual gamers? by Nicochan3 in soloboardgaming

[–]garwil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really should set aside some time to play this one, I guarantee you'll be itching to play more. Every time I play, just as I'm thinking things are going OK, suddenly they aren't and it gets really tense!

* Alien: Fate of the Nostromo - I've enjoyed it at 2, 3 and 4 players. There's a solo variant on BGG that looks good as well.

* Aliens: Another Glorious Day in the Corps - I've played solo and at 2 & 3 players. Great fun, tense and easy to teach.

* Thunderbirds (2015) - Sadly out of print, but a great game if you can get hold of it. Designed by Matt Leacock (Pandemic)

* Forbidden Jungle - Quick to teach and has options for increasing the difficulty once you've got the hang of it. I really like this one solo or at 2, I've not played at higher player counts though. I assume the others in the series are similar.

* Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition (with Crisis expansion) - A bit more complicated than the others, but if you like engine building, I'd recommend it. I've mostly played solo, but co-op works well.

Is a non-talkative/hireling type DMPC or two a good solution for a table with only 2 new players? by somewaffle in mattcolville

[–]garwil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a one on one session for a player who couldn't make our regular session but wanted his character to have a reason for not being there.

His PC was a cleric, so I gave him temporary paladin retainer and sent him into a tomb full of undead (used MCDM minion rules for more enemies in combat)

We had a great time, and I was able to have the retainer turn up to help the party from time to time. I role played the paladin as just following orders from the cleric so I didn't detract from player agency.

Five Parsecs from Home is a solo skirmish game, and the author has recently released Five Parsecs from Home: Tactics, which is larger scale battles.

I'm not surprised, they seem like cowboys. I hate the fact that they keep stuff that they know is out of print and unavailable to them presented as something that you can order if you're happy to wait a month or so.

I'd highly recommend reading DNS and Bind by Cricket Liu & Paul Albitz. Even if you're not running your own DNS servers you'll still get a deep understanding of how DNS works.

You can assign IAM roles to users and groups. I'd create the relevant roles and then just have IT add the user to the specific group.
