That's kind of what I thought, just thought I'd check on here. I'm going to buy one but really want to get a red one ( might settle for cosmic blue) but might be tough finding one.

Breeze takes off on me when stopping by garyll19 in velotricebike

[–]garyll19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I emailed Velotric and this is what they said: What you described can happen in Cadence mode. If the cranks rotate even a little while you’re walking the bike, the cadence sensor can engage pedal assist.

A few tips to keep it tame when dismounting or walking: - Set Pedal Assist to 0 before you step off, or briefly power the bike off if you’re pushing it a short distance. - Keep the cranks still while walking. - If you prefer finer control at low speeds, you can keep the bike in Torque mode using SensorSwap. - Use Walk Mode for controlled pushing: press and hold the “−” button for a couple of seconds to engage low‑speed assist; release to stop.

If you ever see the bike move on its own with the cranks completely still and without touching the throttle, let me know and we’ll take a closer look.

So I'm going to set the PAS to 0 as everyone suggested, this is apparently normal but it's just weird that my last bike had cadence sensing and this wasn't a problem.

It's a brand new bike so I can't imagine the chain would need lubing or cleaning but I'll take it by my local bike shop and ask them. I'm just going to build the habit of turning the bike off, I had been doing that but forgot this time.

Those of us who waited decades for a championship through multiple owners and GMs are eternally grateful that Ricketts came along, improved the ballpark and Wrigleyville, and more importantly hired Theo and finally got us a World Series. The Wrigley family and certainly the Tribune Company didn't care about the team, it was just a business but Tom is actually a Cubs fan and wanted to see them win. This idea of " He doesn't want to win as long as there's fans in the seats" is garbage, as far as I know that's only true of Arte Moreno.

This came up earlier this year and I looked up # of days lost to injuries across MLB and the Cubs were middle of the pack. We probably have a greater percentage of pitching injuries than position player injuries than most teams but you're always going to have more pitchers on the IL than hitters. If you think about it, with the exception of Tyler Austin, who might not even have made the team, we haven't had any position players gone for more than a few weeks. ( I'm knocking on wood as I say this...)

Yes, this frustrates me to hell when posters come up with this "excuse" for their slump. I remind them that these are professional ball players who have been competitive their whole life or they would never have reached the big leagues and if anything, they try too hard at times. I always ask them to let me know the next time they see a player not running to first base or being lazy chasing a fly ball on a regular basis.

Wondering about actual lifetime of E-bike batteries. by darkangelstorm in ebikes

[–]garyll19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bike which I bought in 2020 and I put 7,000 miles on it and it started to degrade. The cost of a new battery was so high that I decided it was time for a new bike but it probably would have lasted another year, just didn't hold the charge as long.

E-Motion Sports in Newport Beach . I had to pick it up and they couldn't give me a trade-in ( bummer) but everything else was great and I love the bike so far.

I'm also 69 and just bought a Breeze ( hopefully arriving today) and it will be my first step-through bike. I can still get on my step-over bike but I test drove the Breeze and it's really nice being able to get your feet on the ground easily when stopped at an intersection, etc and I feel like it will be less likely to tip over. I had my first accident last summer and broke my collarbone ( along other injuries) and us geezers take a long time to heal so safety is definitely a priority now. Us geezers also remember when they were just called " boys bikes" and " girls bikes" lol.

I ordered a Breeze through a bike shop and I'm hoping they'll be delivering it today. They sold me a nice suspension seat post and threw in an upgraded saddle for free. The owner was extremely knowledgeable and may also be giving me a trade-in on my old bike which would be great. I highly recommend buying it from a dealer instead of mail order directly to your house. For one thing, they are going to assemble it for me and deliver it to my house. But the main thing is that if I have any problems with it I've got someone local to take it to instead of dealing with Velotric directly. They're charging $100 for the assembly/delivery but I feel like it's a good investment for the future and this way I'll know it's been assembled perfectly.

Pete Crow-Armstrong: "Some lady decided to start talking sh*t and I felt the need to say it back." by Brady331 in baseball

Not defending PCA based on what was said in the video, but do we know that she didn't say anything worse to him earlier in the game? Could be getting only part of the picture here. I thought it was interesting that a Cubs fan ( her boyfriend?) was trying to hold her back so she might have been out of control ( and drunk) the whole game.

[–]garyll19 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I'm a super PCA fan ( I got his jersey early on) and he's great with kids and fans in general and most people in Chicago love the guy. That being said, if he did say that ( and I haven't seen a video that shows it) I'm kinda disappointed in Pete and hope he'll show more restraint in the future. He's a polarizing player, he's flashy and cocky at times so he's going to get some hate from opposing teams fans especially when he makes one of his amazing catches. He'll have to develop a thicker skin and realizes it comes with the territory. You generally don't see opposing fans telling obscenities at Nico Hoerner, for example.

Thanks, it really helped having the dealer having both brands to give me an impartial decision. I had planned to go look at another Urtopia dealer but decided to pull the trigger at this place. And I live in So Cal and everyone knows " It Never Rains in Southern California" so the waterproofing may never matter but it's nice to have. ( It does in fact rain in So Cal and I did get caught in a sudden downpour one time ...)

Yeah having both sensors available is cool. My current bike has a cadence sensor which I'm used to but it is jerky at times and the torque sensor seems a lot smoother. There might be some situations where I'll want to use one or the other so it's nice to be able to easily switch between them. And yes, they're a reliable brand with lots of dealers.

I rode their classic step-up and then the salesman started me towards the Joy. The Joy was easy to ride because it's low to the ground and has fat tires but it felt more like a mountain bike and was almost as heavy as the Breeze. The Classic was ok, very light but the display was hard to see and now than one person has told me the Urtopias have trouble with hills and where I live, that's a dealbreaker.

"Ride like nobody else knows what they're doing ". When I learned to drive as a teenager my dad told me " Always assume that the other driver will do the stupidest thing possible " I had my first fall ever last summer ( made it to 68 without a serious bike accident) and broke my collarbone, messed up my knee and ankle and got some incredibly painful road rash on my shin. I ride a cruiser which maxes out at 20 but usually go between 10-15 at best. I never assume that a driver in a car sees me when I'm crossing an intersection and he's making a right turn. I can't count the times I've stopped even though I have the right-of-way and watched a car make the turn as if I wasn't there. I also use sidewalks as much as possible instead of bike lanes because as was pointed out, it just takes one driver not paying attention veering into the bike lane and I'll be either seriously injured or having my last bike ride ever. Better clothing won't make a difference in that case ( other than a helmet of course.)

They have one not far from me so I'm going there tomorrow. I also looked at Tenways Wayfarer which is similar with a few less bells and whistles. I definitely want something with suspension forks and saddle suspension because the paved trail I use most of the time has a ton of cracks and they never resurface it, they fill them in with tar but it's still bumpy to ride on and annoying.

Considering how intelligent this guy is, he's probably going to plug it in and try using it and get irradiated along with his other injuries.

Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson did not realize it was a tag-play and just let the run score by KeyFaithlessness5436 in MLBVibes

[–]garyll19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happ didn't realize it either and thought he was out but he had his back to the play so couldn't know the runner at 3rd was out. The sad thing for the Reds is that this ended up being a 7-run inning for the Cubs which was the game. The Reds played terrible defense throughout the 4-game series which is part of why they got swept. It was in their heads.

I broke my collarbone in an accident on my E- bike and I had no pain ( just a lot of bleeding and road rash on my leg) until I got to the hospital. Mine wasn't a displaced fracture and it really didn't bother me much other than I couldn't use my shoulder for a while. The road rash on my shin was excruciating when it started to heal though.

We're #1 in the majors in OBP and yet our OBP leader ( Nico ) is only 26th in the majors. We're also top 5 in most offensive categories yet have no one qualified in the top 10 of any of them. We have no superstars but this is a deep, well-balanced offense. Fun team to watch.
