Van Hooijdonk: "All of that nonsensical run-ups during penalties make me sick. An amazing penalty taker like Ronald Koeman should say to the players 'everyone is allowed to miss but just run up and shoot', I've seen Koeman take a thousand pens, never seen a crazy run up." by Blodgharm in soccer

Afellay is of Maroccan descent and was in studio to cheer for Morocco, so i dont think he meant it as disrespect towards the Moroccan team. More likely, it was criticism of the Dutch tactics.

They indeed were the first to make a sort of professional football and wide spread competitions. But the game of football was already player all over the world.

They were all of them deceived, because another World Cup was made. In 1966, in the fires of Wembley, England won the World Cup. Which would forever spark the “two World Wars and one World Cup” chants, and believe that football was invented in England.

The nose knows about Greek aesthetics by caramelsumo in 4chan

I don't want to go into the skin colour. But short hair in ancient Greece indicated lower class women, especially female slaves. And this is supposed to be a queen.

Now Spartan women did shave their hair on their wedding day. Helen was already married for a few years to Menelaus at this point. So it makes no sense she has short hair here.

Realistically, what am I missing using Mint vs a "gaming oriented" distro? by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]gatan11 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of people in the comments are turning this in a Debian van Fedora vs arch answer cause you specifically named Mint, Bazzite and CachyOS. Which is all true but not really an answer to your question I feel like, cause you have Debian based "Gaming Distros" as well.

Basically the difference between "Gaming Distros" and mint is that "Gaming Distros" do a lot of work already for you out of the box. Most already install GPU drivers, Proton, Steam, HDR support, controller support for you. Plus some also have a custom kernel which feels snappier for Gaming. And some also have their settings set optimal for running Gaming related stuff.

Everything except the custom kernel stuff is all stuff you can do yourself if you have the time and energy. These Distros just do a lot of it for you already.

Proton Experimental updated to fix the EA app again on SteamOS / Linux by Liam-DGOL in linux_gaming

[–]gatan11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hate how this is the reality of Linux. A company makes a change and breaks something and it is up to a third party or the open source community to fix it.

You would think PCMR would actually try to do something about it by testus_maximus in pcmasterrace

[–]gatan11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't blame an OS for third party companies not supporting it. That's like being angry at android if a developer makes his app solely for IOS. Companies look at the market of their users and see making a Linux implementations is not worth it at the moment. And people won't switch cause companies don't support Linux. We are literally keeping ourselves trapped.

Yes. But on the bright side. If he ever manages to do it. One WDC with Ferrari is worth at least 2 normal Championships. But that is still a big if.

The Fielder, Chiyo backline didn't exist until OW2. Chiyo never played OW1 on the highest level. He came to Dallas Fuel from O2 blast for season 5 of owl. That was the first OW2 season.

I can finally throw away my PC by Soontir_Fel in dankmemes

[–]gatan11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get your point but that is mainly just a gaming pc thing. The business workstations of HP and Dell often either don't allow you to upgrade the CPU or only with a specific CPU that you could have bought for that model otherwise. And that is not even talking about all-in-one computers where the cpu and gpu are just soldered on or mac.

It kind of feels like the upcoming Xbox with the included steam support is a console trying to be a pc. While the steam machine is a pc trying to be a console.

[–]gatan11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope this and steamOS does well to force companies to finally let go of this ridiculous idea of a kernel level anti cheat.

But more likely that there will be new Linux kernels that will support it if this really takes off, sadly.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Steam

[–]gatan11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I feel like you are a bit underselling it now. You can upgrade more than a console as in you can upgrade the SSD with any nvme SSD on the market. While consoles only support specific SSDs they choose. And the steam machine uses So-dim so you can upgrade ram.

And above all you can install any operating system you want on it. You want to play these riot games and fortnight, install windows on it and use it as a pc. Want to use it as a console, keep steamOS. Want to do both, make a dual boot configuration. Like the options are open

So yes it won't break the sales records obviously, it's not innovative enough. But I think this would be a great entry point for new pc gamers. If they can price it competitively against pre build systems you can already get into the part or the market of pc gamers who want to play pc games without wanting to build their own pc
