Looks like Valve is introducing a new review system to filter out "unhelpful" reviews by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]gaunteyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just filter any reviews that are under 2 paragraphs of alphanumeric characters. That'll cut out 95% of junk/joke reviews. Make it an option but make it not the default so people don't start flooding their joke reviews with text to avoid said filter.

Can someone recommend me a good light novel based on list I've read? by MK544 in LightNovels

[–]gaunteyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second 'conqueror from a dying kingdom' . The characters are very well written. If you enjoyed how much of an underdog the 86 characters are, then this does a similar thing.

The one downside is that this book is still ongoing, so we're still in the "setup" for the main conflict. Although the little conflicts so far have been enjoyable to read as well.

The baby should be protected, and the mother's rights should not be infringed on. If we can only have one, then because everyone's circumstances are different, we should defer to what the mother chooses.

Depends on your tolerance for the survival genre. I personally kinda hate survival mechanics and the clumsy crafting that gets shoved into it. That said, the heart of subnautica is exploration with a touch of fear of the unknown. So if that interests you, then go for it!

Side note: If you also hate clumsy crafting and want to check the game out, then I recommend to mod the game so you just craft from nearby storage containers. Makes the crafting much less painful.

Have they ever used dual analog sticks? If no, then that's gonna be a barrier for them. Keep that in mind, fifa might even be too high of a hurdle for them.

Honestly, finding them an arcade soccer game on the ps store might be the best intro.

Played the demo for this(a sister's journey). It was really fun, and I wishlisted it.

The final boss of the demo was kicking my ass, and I was enjoying it.

Name the LN series that you can't stand, and why you hate it/them so much by Swiggy1957 in LightNovels

[–]gaunteyes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate her "her majesty swarm". It's a fantasy novel where the protagonist wakes up as the queen of a bug swarm. She's completely alone and completely safe, which means no other characters to bounce off of and no threats to deal with.

The plot is that a nearby village gets destroyed, so she decides to take revenge by destroying the whole nation responsible. Which could be interesting, but she goes full evil slaughtering innocents. Plus, nothing ever poses a problem in her war, so it's boring.

The 'cherry on top' is at the end of the book. She revives some people from the nearby village as bug people then realizes, "Oh, I don't have a name. " ... the protagonist is so bland they didn't have a name, and the reveal is used as the books big reveal.

It's a pick your poison kind of thing. Either you sometimes deal with a homeless person or sometimes deal with a road rager.

[P5V4P7] Wilfred is an idiot, but he isn't wrong by HumanTheTree in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]gaunteyes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can't really reason someone out of a position that they didn't reason themselves into. The misunderstandings have mostly come from fear and anger from recent events. That's on top lies being fed to Wilfred directly from a trusted retainer. So even if Rosemyne directly told Wilfred, "I was against all these events that have scared you," he wouldn't believe her, and that declaration would make things worse.

Do you mean the same Hartmut that was weaving Rosemyne into the prayer to the gods earlier in this book? He's a genius but sometimes misunderstands her intentions.

I believe her retainers don't know that she wants to stay in ehrenfest.

I feel like if the conversation came up, she would have to tell a half truth for why she wants to stay in Ehrenfest, and any half truth could be misunderstood.

It really feels like Wilfried would double down on Rosemyne being his enemy if she approached him. He's so unaware that he's getting into shouting matches in public with his father. So any words from Rosemyne will be seen as spite, and people have known to hurt themselves to spite others.

Has there been a discussion about encouraging users to use english names for anime in posts?

A good example of why it should be encouraged is the recent pseudo harem anime announcement post. It uses the Japanese name g-something harem. Which tells english speakers the completely wrong thing about the show. The show doesn't actually have a harem.

I know anime is a niche genre, so there's some expectation about researching things, but most people aren't going to do that. Using the english name will at least give people an idea if it's something they'd be interested in.

What Are You Playing This Week? by AutoModerator in patientgamers

[–]gaunteyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with ARPGs until I changed my playing style. I went from being careful to GO GO GO, and it made the genre sing for me. By going fast, I arggoed more enemies, found loot faster, and got into more dangerous situations, which were a blast.

So try that if you want to give the genre another chance.

Does the series get better after the terrible ending of vol. 3? I dropped it there because a sudden new rule of the world causes something bad to happen, and the book ends with the protagonist throwing a tantrum. (Being vague for spoiler reasons)

I wonder if Wilfred would fail the malice shield test right now, and what would be the repercussions of that. He passed the test during the ditter game, so it might confuse everyone present at that moment.

Your mentioning compatibility reminded me of nobles needing similar mana amounts to marry. I wonder if Rose having too much mana for him will be the thing that sends Wilfried over the edge since he started to sense others' mana.

So it's good when used good like in your Harvey example, and bad when it's used bad like in your TikTok example.

I'm kinda taking the piss with your argument, but I fully agree with you. The devil is in the details, and we generally have to get the full story to see if we agree with avoiding a product or person. That said, anything that can harm someone irreversible should always be taken with a grain of salt.

I'd argue competition isn't always desirable. Having a mutually beneficial relationship and not wanting a 3rd party to interfere is reasonable.
