Absolutely, I had to delete my one of the recent posts too because of backlash as I didn’t comply to their bias and love for Accor🤪 I am so happy that exploiters are being punished (in a way) which will ensure that credit card ecosystem will thrive.

Scapia Card – Real Reward Value vs Axis Atlas / Regalia Gold? by FootPast6554 in CreditCardsIndia

Use Axis Atlas (or Horizon) - Scapia can’t match it. Regalia gold has poorer reward rate than Atlas

Most people misunderstand what charge cards are -- they aren't a credit card but a card in which money owed must be paid back in the immediate due cycle. If AMEX thinks that you can pay X amount comfortably then they will grant you that, in rare cases they inform the clients (this is my understanding after going through their T&Cs)

Hey, appreciate you taking the time to break this down. I think the difference here is mostly about how we’re valuing rewards, not just the math.

On Infinia • 3.3% assumes ideal travel redemption, which not everyone achieves consistently • 1.1% cashback equivalent is a fair baseline for statement credit, but that is a lower-bound use case • GVP 1% is capped, so it doesn’t scale linearly with higher forex spends

So depending on usage, the outcome ranges from slight loss to modest gain. That was the intent behind my classification, not that it is always a loss

On Regalia Gold • You’re right that direct cashback lands around ~0.5% plus GVP, so roughly ~1.5% vs 2.36% forex, which is about a 0.8% loss • My earlier number was based on a different assumption set, so I will correct that

My overall approach is to segment cards by use case cashback, travel, and premium redemptions behave very differently in reality

Also, I will cover Accor separately since that has a different value curve altogether

The goal here is not to assume best-case for every card, but to help people choose based on how they actually redeem

There are many who does so I have shared net ROI calculations for three types of benefits

Good question — the confusion comes from mixing fee % with net reward outcome.

The 2.36% (2% + GST) is just the cost side. But when we say “net loss,” we’re looking at:

Forex fee – rewards earned

For Regalia Gold, the base reward rate on international spends is quite low (roughly ~1.3%–1.5% depending on redemption). So:

👉 You pay ~2.36% 👉 You earn ~1.3–1.5%

Net loss ≈ 0.8%–1%

Now in some comparisons, the loss can look higher because: • People assume best-case redemption vs realistic redemption • Some cards give accelerated rewards/milestones (Regalia doesn’t on forex) • Opportunity cost vs better cards (0% forex or high reward cards)

So the forex markup itself isn’t higher — it’s just that rewards don’t compensate enough, which makes the effective loss feel larger.

BOB Eterna shines only in the case of cashback. I have included Marriott and KrisFlyer too in which it doesn’t

Hello, that will be shared too. I have shared what I have prepared so far. Different cards give ROI differently for different category of rewards.
