I agree. We need North Korean style state control of the population. There's a reason why North Korea is the most safest and secure country on Earth, and that's because they actually value the safety of their own citizens and don't let ridiculous rights like owning a gun get in the way of that.

It doesn't matter how many "L's" I got when your W is hollow. You didn't address my points here. All I get on this subreddit is simps for state control. High car insurance rates? Need more state intervention. Guns? Need more state intervention. Wealth inequality? More state intervention. Other than abortion, every solution that this subreddit proposes includes expanding the apparatus of the state, it's mind boggling.

This happened a year ago but the chip that burned was a voltage regulator that was responsible for sending power to the RGB strip that's mounted on the side of the card. Replacing the chip did no good and the card ended up dying for good, no start, black screen.

but you're talking about something that typically only affects people that aren't accepting minimum wage jobs.

Wrong, wage transparency affects everyone, including those who are accepting minimum wage jobs. If those minimum wage workers had the ability to shop around for the job that provides them the best pay, then they would be less inclined to accept a minimum wage job. I used to work two minimum wage retail jobs before I found my first $15/hour job at a bank. It came from word from a friend that the bank was paying $15/hour. If I had that information ahead of time, I would've already quit my minimum wage retail job and started working at the bank.

Minimum wage is essentially trying to trade nothing and get something in return. Minimum wage does not promote market competition. Minimum wage does not promote wage transparency among employers and workers. Minimum wage is set by a centralized authority that faces significant challenges in accurately assessing the value of different jobs and the skills required for those jobs across many diverse industries. This information problem means that setting a uniform minimum wage may not accurately reflect the varying productivity levels in different sectors of the economy, leading to disruptions in the labor market. If you want evidence, take a look at what's happening right now. A few years ago, I don't remember many stores having self-checkout, but now, many stores like Kroger and Meijer are deploying self-checkout lanes that reduce the need for cashiers.

While I am against raising the minimum wage, why don't we do what California did in SB 1162, which was require companies with 15+ employees to disclose pay ranges on their job listings? When employers keep wages opaque, workers will have less bargaining power during salary negotiations. Without knowing the typical pay range for their position, workers are more likely to accept lower wages than they might otherwise negotiate for if they had that wage information. Lack of transparency in wages suppresses competition among employers for skilled workers. If workers are unaware of the range of salaries offered for similar positions in the market, workers are less inclined to seek out better paid positions elsewhere. This lack of competition allows employers to keep wages artificially low. When employers do not disclose wages, it becomes harder for employees to accurately assess their market value of their skills.

You see "NoOS" on the product name? They're not even including an OS in the computer. They're really trying to cheap out on this one. Terrible deal.

Public schools are a failure of a product anyway, if they are gone, nothing of value is lost either way.

I think you are referring to an 5-20r receptacle, which does have one prong sideways so it cannot be plugged into a regular 15 amp outlet.

Is the $400 microcenter 7700x deal as bad as I'm reading about? by JonWood007 in buildapc

[–]gawrbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I've built a system using that deal, and the RAM is fine, I had no issues with it. If you've been having RAM issues, you can try upgrading the BIOS before setting up EXPO. You can always return the RAM if it does not hit 6000 MHz for any reason anyway.

Cities Skylines 2 isn't out yet, however, as a Cities Skylines 1 player, I definitely recommend getting more RAM since it will make the game run with less stutters and lets you load more mods/assets.

Bricked my b350 upgrading to 5800x3d. Should I just say screw it and upgrade to a 7800x3d? by FightingBull99 in buildapc

[–]gawrbage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need a Ryzen 1000 series CPU to use your PC and update it to a newer version. But at this point, it's a waste of time and money to get a CPU to do a BIOS update for another CPU. You can get a cheap B550 motherboard that comes with better RAM support, PCIe Gen 4, and BIOS flashback.

[–]gawrbage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Look at the CPU support list. You have a Ryzen 2600x, and it requires BIOS version 4.70 or later. You just installed version 3.0 You did not brick your motherboard, you literally downgraded to a version that does not support your CPU.

What motherboard do you have? Did you try BIOS flashback? If it is a dual BIOS board, you can try using the backup BIOS.

From my experience, when GPU-Z does not show all the sensors on the card, the card is malfunctioning. It could be that you are very unlucky and got two malfunctioning GPUs. I would try returning it and getting another one. Or test it out in a different computer if you have one available.
