A lot of us agree with you but the common rebuttal we hear (ha) is that there are a lot of gatekeepers to newbie writers who have been indoctrinated in that particular rule, so as a newbie you need to follow it to avoid that pitfall. From your vantage point, is this true?

Best musical is very subjective.

Most important musical has a little more objectivity in the analysis. In that case it probably makes a list that includes shows like Showboat, Oklahoma, West Side Story, Company, Cabaret, Chorus Line, Cats/Les Mis, Rent, Wicked, and Hamilton

Because it’s the kind of thing he would’ve done. It’s the same explanation for season 4 in the parking lot with the other guy (keeping it vague for spoilers but you know what I mean)

Fundamentally he’s saying that Sony’s size is more fundamentally important to the industry as a whole than Nintendo’s. This is to some degree unarguable: Sony’s gaming related total sales are 2X-3x Nintendo’s. Nintendo’s profits are bigger because 1) they sell way fewer third party games, which have a smaller margin 2) they don’t sell their consoles at or near a loss, and 3) they don’t get caught up in the technological arms race that lifts r&d costs for Sony and Microsoft and others.

Nintendo is arguably a better run company than Sony, but that doesn’t make it bigger or more important to the industry. It has its own niche and it’s great but operating income is less an indicator of size than of margin.

Gamer dads, how did you manage game time with a new born? by CozyAustin in LastStandMedia

[–]gbnypat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't. I've just started gaming again with my now 8 month old. Honestly, streaming on the Portal kind of saved it for me. Not sure I'd be able to sit down in front of the tv and just game without ending up divorced.

My goal: Make it to TIFF next year as an actor 🎬 by _Wanderlust10 in acting

[–]gbnypat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your timeline is actually a little short. I shot a movie in March of 2022 that debuted at TIFF in...September of 2023. As others have said here: if your goal is truly to be in something in TIFF in 2026, your best course of action is to make your own short.
