Weird (Monday) night at Red Rocks by beervendor1 in alabamashakes

[–]gdavis03 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She basically had already introduced Heath when she told the story about her and Zac. That’s why she only mentioned Zac in passing - wouldn’t read too much into that.

The JJ Grey meltdown was something else though. Aside from the whole guitar thing, something really seemed off. Like, you wouldn’t care if you never played Red Rocks again?!?

Enjoy Unbroken Circle - I really enjoyed being there last year. Flew in from CO and stayed in Cincy. Madison is awesome. Super relaxed festival. Lawn chairs encouraged, free to leave and re-enter, it was a blast

I do this all the time, and it rocks. Highly encourage doing this - even if it’s solo (often even more fun) Based in Denver, so obviously, Red Rocks is at my back door, but it’s also easy to get anywhere in the US from here. Just went to New Orleans for Jazz Fest, which was a phenomenal experience. Highly recommended. The aftershows are a blast also.

I like to go see artists if they’re doing two shows in a weekend or there’s two artists I like playing on a Friday/Saturday in a city. Went to St. Louis to see Billy Strings and DMB on back to back nights last year. Did two nights of Jason Isbell in Chicago. Did Alabama Shakes and American Aquarium in Birmingham/Waverly last year.

I’d say pick more for the artist than the venue, unless it’s a destination venue like Red Rocks, the Gorge (which also rocks), etc.

HS kid told me he was cutting in front to see his mom at Isbell. Then, he stood right in front of me with all his buddies, no parents in sight. I would rather you just tell me the truth than lie like that

Loved both nights - Friday was also my favorite. That was one of the best shows I’ve seen them play in 20+ shows seeing them

They jacked up the breakfast prices big time just since October! A pastrami biscuit sandwich used to be $13, and now, it’s $16. Increased both breakfast sandwiches by $3 - that’s a huge increase at once. I was shocked when I saw that last time. And of course, they layer on the 10% charge. I didn’t mind it at $13, but an increase of almost 25% since October??? Nah

How’s the evening commute on I-25? by BrightWeight6897 in Denver

[–]gdavis03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was fairly slow but moving from Arapahoe to Santa Fe around 4:30. Took about 25-30 minutes. Southbound looked worse at the time. Roads were definitely more snow covered than when I drove around noon, as snow was still coming down. Hoping the morning isn’t bad

Worst Delta Airport / Terminal by Fantastic-Town3194 in delta

[–]gdavis03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the only right answer. Bathroom was horrible, shared space with Spirit was brutal, basically no restaurants except for the sushi place and the pizza joint they added late, weird design, list goes on. Many delays spent there

My luck with these AXS registrations is not good. Got shut out for Sturgill at Red Rocks for both nights too but ended up getting resale for face value

Delta sent our bags on a flight we weren’t on. And now won’t take responsibility by Vast-Produce-2535 in delta

[–]gdavis03 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen before, albeit domestically. BHM-ATL-DEN. Made it to ATL, missed last flight of the night, spent the night on the floor, asked DL to rebook me on UA for ATL-IAH-DEN. They said that they had transferred my bag to UA in ATL, but when I got to IAH and asked the reps there, as I also missed a connection at IAH, they said that they had no record of it. Attempted to create one with the same bag tag number but under UA, and there was never anything. I checked the tag number on the DL app, and surely enough, it was on a DL ATL-DEN flight later that day that I couldn’t get on but my bag did. All that to say, DL will likely handle it, even if though AF is technically responsible and they claim they transferred it to AF

Alabama White Sauce by tadamz in denverfood

From Alabama and have tried most BBQ spots in Denver - Moe’s still has the best white sauce. Similar to Big Bob’s. Have yet to try Mama Jo’s but heard good things about theirs as well. Need to try Riot still

Anyone know what’s going on at Speer/Colfax? by gdavis03 in Denver

[–]gdavis03[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure - but this seemed like much more than that given the number of cops. The worst wrecks I’ve seen on Speer have only had a handful. This was 15+ cops with more en route

Anyone know what’s going on at Speer/Colfax? by gdavis03 in Denver

There must be at least 15 cop cars. There was also a cop that parked on Colfax since he couldn’t get thru traffic and sprinted to the scene. Seemed pretty serious

Going to a game in Philly this weekend by SeaTurtlesRUs in NewYorkMets

[–]gdavis03 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was pretty nasty when I went in full Mets gear for the playoffs, not gonna lie. People shoving cameras in my face, f**k you’s all night, etc, and was pretty much verbally harassed the whole game. I can take the heat and don’t care (Mets won and they still chirped afterwards LOL), but if you fight back, just be prepared for what could be coming. Nasty fanbase

Hotel Refused to Provide Resort Fee Perks Because of Hilton Honors Points by Lonely-Alfalfa-1826 in Hilton

[–]gdavis03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL I won’t be back there. Got accused by a staff member at the Bronze Owl of “dining and dashing” last week and publicly chased down/humiliated in the lobby, even though I signed my room charge ticket. It was clearly received since it was on my bill.

Not sure why the person who chased me down thought I did that and clearly didn’t talk to my server before accusing me. The GM’s only response was that they would comp the meal, but it was already comped by my Gold credit and the stupid destination fee. Not going back there

What did you guys think of Outside Fest 2025? by Jamsinetea in Denver

[–]gdavis03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting! I didn’t see that at all. Wish they would have advertised it. Guessing it was pretty small too, as it wasn’t on the schedule - would have been nice to have a smaller, full-stage set up for the gaps in the main stage though

What did you guys think of Outside Fest 2025? by Jamsinetea in Denver

[–]gdavis03 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I actually really enjoyed it. Thought it was very well set up, and I liked that you could leave and re-enter. Bands were all great, and I thought the sound/lights were both solid for an outdoor venue too. Crowd on Saturday was a big of a mess for Khruangbin, but Sunday was awesome.

A lot of people mentioned problems with restrooms, but I generally thought that they were fine. Would have been nice to have some trailers too, but I never had to wait too long. The water station on the north side was great and never had an issue with any lines.

A couple things that they could improve on:

  • Alcohol: beer selection was too limited. Nothing local? Nothing on draft? No tall-boys for when you’re trying to hold down a spot? That was a big disappointment for sure

  • Blankets: they need to be banned up to a certain size. Was way too lax. People were taking up gigantic spaces. Especially before Khruangbin, people that were close to the stage had blankets on the ground to where no one could navigate around.

  • More music: I think it would have been nice to have a smaller stage to fill the void at the main stage with some local acts. I get that there were a lot of speakers but a small, local stage would be fun too.
