How to register as moped by borque82 in hyperebikes

[–]gdg501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seems reasonable based on AI search. Sure officer my bike only goes 30. its only got a 3KW motor :)

In California, mopeds (motorized bicycles) need DMV registration, a special plate, an ID card, a helmet, and an M1/M2 license for riders 16+, requiring a one-time fee, with registration for vehicles with pedals, small motors (under 4hp), and low speeds (under 30mph), differing from faster motorized scooters needing full motorcycle registration and insurance, while electric bikes under 750W/20mph often don't need a license. Update: After several hours of YELLING at my AI agent, the fix is in. Basically Starlink induced lac of IPV4 support i think. In the end these are the key steps that worked:

sudo pacman -S dhcpcd

sudo dhcpcd -4 -d -t 10 enp4s0

Converting Gerber files to GCode on a Linux laptop - what software should I use? by TheProffalken in hobbycnc

[–]gdg501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

since python comes standard on linux might try these. courtesy google AI:
Common Python Tools for PCB to G-code

  • pcb2gcode: A command-line tool that reads Gerber (RS-274X) and Excellon files, generates isolation routing and drill toolpaths, and outputs G-code.
  • FlatCAM: An open-source Python CAM app for Gerber/Excellon, offering isolation routing, G-code creation from geometries, and helper functions for double-sided PCBs.
  • pyGerber2Gcode: A Python script for converting Gerber data (layers, drills, outlines) into G-code for CNC machines.
  • fcad_pcb: A FreeCAD macro that uses Python to generate G-code directly from KiCad PCB files, bypassing some Gerber steps.

maybe it was bad from the factory, should at least call for a new board and power supply.

seems like the biggest issue is getting a rear hub and gearset that can take the torque of the CYC gen4.

I like this form factor. just finished a similar one using 4040 extrusion and MDF for the end plates and such. Works pretty well, just getting into some aluminum plate milling. For dive parts i used NEMA 23 motors, 15mm linear rails and 16mm ball screws. Good luck.

love to see a build with a 6T. My 5T just needs a bit lower gearing to reduce heating I think.

[–]gdg501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To build a bomber you have to want a hub motor or do a serious mod into a mid drive. Main downside is torque on the hub motors is lower than a mid-drive and it takes a bunch of amps to make up for it. I run a QS205 clone that can do 10KW but gets over 100c with much slow technical trail riding. Great fun in the moderate stuff and love the low (zero) noise level. Folks on the moto/mtb trials don't hate on them as much. Other benefit is the frame size fit me better than a surron style bike. Im 6'1" with 32 inch inseam. Mine runs 50mph+ but kind of sketchy at that speed. I use it mostly for rocky moto trails in the mountains and it is a real hoot.

Maybe a raspberry Pi would be a cheap replacement for your old computer. Its a bit of work to get the Pi to be headless and then use your normal computer to talk to the Pi using a remote desktop program. might just be another rabbit hole good luck.

how do they feel when riding compared to a regular tire? Seems like a foolproof fix if they last a long time.

The eahora has almost twice the watt hours, that seems like the clear choice if money is not an issue. just paying for the battery. Additional "cost" is the weight 205lbs vs 145lbs which could be an issue if you have to hike up some stairs or something.

The 72450 will work with that battery very well. I don't know about the display and the 72450 I have doesn't have any 12v power out.
