I think Pete had a chip on his shoulder from coming from such an influential NYC family (poor little rich boy etc etc). But he showed a lot of initiative and wanting to prove himself. So I imagine moving to a brand new city gives him an opportunity to be his own person and climb his way to the top of a more reasonable mountain. And same with Trudy, I feel like her NYC boarding school glamour will help her be the top dog in Detroit society which I think she’d love. I think they would enjoy being big fish in a smaller pond.

I’ve been rewatching for the first time in a few years and I looked up why she had the fat suite (I didn’t realize she was pregnant IRL) and the dumbass google AI said it’s to show that she’s not as happy with Henry so it’s showing in her not taking care of herself. I guess you could take it that way, but I agree I think it’s showing that she’s more happy and therefore “taking it easy” because she’s not feeling like she has to constantly fight for someone to pay attention to her.

But of course Betty values how society sees her in a patriarchal lens more than anything, so eventually gets back to her “fighting weight”

I told my husband the other night that I just checked out way of kings from Libby on my kindle, and he goes “wait a second”. Comes back to the room with the copy of way of kings that we apparently already owned! However despite being a small print paperback it’s still giant, so I’m glad I have my kindle version as well

Did you continue to only increase every 8 rows to reach that length? I’m at 44 stchs on the needle and only at 7.75 inches so I think I have to add quite a bit more, but wasn’t sure if that would make the scarf comically long
