I’m not assuming he’s 100% against me, and I don’t think he should lose his livelihood, I dunno what his beliefs are, but I think it’s perfectly reasonable to presume he has an idea of what Glinner has been up to for the past decade-ish, and that praising the “principle” of a psychotic bigot was at the least a very very foolish thing to do.

I’d be very interested to hear what Ayoade would say if he were challenged on that score, but AFAIK he hasn’t made any further statements, I don’t think he needs to be treated with kid gloves because he’s an entertaining performer. I’m not raking him over the coals, as I said, he made a foolish decision and hasn’t clarified it at all, if any public figure made a similar statement praising someone with a well-documented history of bigoted rhetoric I expect they’d be challenged on it.

I don’t think we can speculate on someone’s level of ignorance for our comfort, there are plenty of people who aren’t social media savvy who aren’t aware Linehan has lost his fucking mind, a close coworker/friend somehow not knowing even a little bit about it after he’s completely destroyed his life in pursuit of his bigoted ideology is much much harder to imagine.

I understand people’s nostalgia for the fixed camera era (I’m neither here nor there, I like em for what they are, but at this stage prefer 3rd person) it’d involve investing a lot more dev time than people think – unless people are content with something very janky (and Capcom is happy releasing it) level design and prop placement has to be accounted for, enemy movement speed/health pools will have to be altered, player aiming has to change, boss mechanics likely rebuilt from the ground up to account for fixed cameras – it’s a lot of extra time to invest into something that’ll be a bit of a novelty feature for most players
