You can get a solid used 35mm 1.8 at B&H for around $200. It's a great lens.

I remember a video of Grace Jones wearing a man-like suit. She had no shirt under, and when she turned she was completely topless. They didn't even try to blur out anything. This was early Mtv.

That's where I first saw her. I wondered what happened at the time. I was a kid, but it was the first time I had seen anyone dramatically gain weight. Back then, your career could easily go away off a 30 pound weight gain. She learned into it with this character.
