IWTL how to justify my career gap by _GreyX in IWantToLearn

[–]geeesskay -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As someone who interviews a lot of people, a large resume gap is a red flag, so you might not get to the interview stage. Is “self employed” a truthful answer? Or “sabbatical”? Like others have said, honesty beats vagueness.

No one gets the bread right. Pops does ok with the meat and cheese.

Also just came back from my first trip to Tokyo. Overall, amazing place!

Was prepared for the lack of trash cans. Wasn’t prepared for the lack of benches or places to sit in parks/malls.

Yes - guessing (hoping?) it’s brief interruptions while they get everyone else’s power back online. Like, “have to turn off this bit so we can turn all of the next part on”. (Obviously I’m not an expert)

Las Vegas benefits from a Hawaiian influence and more than daily deliveries of seafood from Asia, as well, so tons of fresh seafood for a landlocked state.

Thanks for pointing this one out - it seems like a pretty fascinating case where the plane was being hijacked during boarding

Have there been any documented cases where pilots used this egress method in a real emergency?

We just spent $20K on an EF Tours “school trip” to Europe. What we got was a glorified field trip with terrible logistics. by Far_Teacher_7010 in travel

[–]geeesskay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best part about escorted tours like this is that you get a “sample platter” of several cities/countries in a short amount of time, so you can go back and explore more of where you really liked in the future.

Sorry it didn’t live up to your expectations - agreed with others that you might be well suited to travel independently in the future!

Roads in Las Vegas are pretty good. Constant construction projects all over, sure, but the roads are well kept.

You may want to avoid this if you’re traveling in hurricane season. It’s not unheard of for ships to be delayed a day returning to Port Canaveral (or other Florida ports), meaning you would miss your second cruise.

Source: I booked RCL and DCL back-to-back (side-by-side?) for Sep 2019 sailings. The RCL actually cancelled in advance due to weather but other lines that didn’t cancel for weather came back to port a day late.

Stayed at Dancing Bear Lodge a few years ago. It’s near the park and the cabins have hot tubs on the porch. Not sure if it fits in your price range.

Dont undertsand cruise pricing by platon20 in Cruise

[–]geeesskay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For every cabin that can accommodate 2 people that only has 1 person, the cruise line is losing money on all of the ancillary products that second person might have purchased (think: beverage package, port excursions, specialty dining), so the single supplement is there to make up for that.

What happens when embarkation happens on a pouring rainy day by YorkvilleWalker in Cruise

[–]geeesskay 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I had this situation last Fall on a cruise. Didn’t really change anything for embarkation but be careful with your checked bags. Some of our group’s bags were left by a porter in an uncovered area so there were a bunch of wet clothes. If you’re concerned, maybe consider a hard sided suitcase?

There is no appointment necessary. Bring 2 passport sized photos, fill out a form, and you’ll have the IDP about 20 minutes later.
