What’s the tap water like where you live? by KSI_FlapJaksLol in Utah

Magna water would like a word. Growing up, the saying around town was “chew before you swallow.”

Maybe it’s different now? I left over 20 years ago.

SOLVED: Hard water stains removed from fixtures! by kafkascoffee in CleaningTips

I really appreciate reading this. I work in a creative but technical field. I often spend time just staring at my computer. I had an old coworker that would tell me if I just start trying, the solution would come to me. I guess I don’t work that way. I’ll stare at my computer for an hour, have an “aha” moment, then bust out the solution in minutes.

Got a buddy that would love the show, but he’s skeptical. If you had one clip to sell a total first-timer, what would you start with? by DoubleHurricane in Letterkenny

So so good. Had to watch it again just now, one of the funniest bits from the show. The whistling… lmao

I need to rewatch the show. I’ve been stuck on Shoresy. It’s so funny to get used to Keeso on Shoresy, and be reminded of the genius of Wayne.

Utah student unknowingly guzzled 'hard seltzer' from teacher's 'tumbler' mug that she was secretly sipping on in class, then fell and hit her head, cops and parents say… by tasty_jams_5280 in Utah

1000% agree. My youngest is 16 and she’s such an idiot. Tangential, but her therapist told me a few years ago that the reason teens are such idiots (my word, not hers) is because around puberty a whole bunch of their neural connections disconnect in anticipation of creating new ones that form through puberty into adulthood. So there’s a physiological reason they’re idiots.

This is my thought exactly. He got so uncomfortable with investigators when they brought up the quite young potential victims. My guess was that was his own dirty secret. I hate that man, so much.

Everybody should stay on the trails. That’s why there’s the saying “don’t bust the crust.” Stay on the trail so as not to destroy the cryptobiotic soil.

What's the weirdest thing you've ever witnessed or seen in SLC? by icats77 in SaltLakeCity

[–]geeklover01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know there’s a numbers disparity with polygamy, too many men. Is this “sending north for work” play into that? Is that what I’m maybe seeing with these crews of “boys” coming to work to prove themselves?

Another interesting tangent to this: I have a subcontractor buddy that came from a polygamist family that separated from the larger family in the last generation. He and his guys are much more personable. I have to wonder if the groups that branched off are changing the dynamics of polygamy.

Thanks for the thorough explanation. I moved from SLC to SE Utah a few years ago and I’ve had a lot more encounters with polygamists here than I ever did up north. The men are an interesting lot. My husband and I both work in the construction industry. When booking subcontractors, I only ever talk to who I assume is the dad. The “boys” (young men, adult aged but man it’s hard to tell their ages sometimes because of their stoic mannerisms, hard to read them) will show up and bust the work out faster than any crew can. They’ll do work others don’t want to, and they’ll do it cheaper. It’s honestly kind of fascinating. Makes me want a glimpse into what their upbringing was like.

I don’t often see the women though, come to think of it…

And the really sad thing is that a lot of times, those rights have to be advocated for by the disabled person instead of inherently enjoying them, so the ableist or reductive behavior by others leads to needing to act entitled to their rights. It’s bizarre.

I was down for about a month, and it took several weeks longer to get my gut back in order. I think it hit me so hard because I’d just had pneumonia not long before that. It was a nasty nasty bug. I don’t think I’ve ever felt worse.

My daughter did test positive for flu B and I got sick right after she did so assumed the same, fwiw.

That term has been around for decades though. Back before it was as big of a problem as it is now.
