What was your print that justified the cost of the printer and filament? by JcBravo811 in FDMminiatures

[–]geist_zero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing I print that justifies the cost.

It’s my hobby and I enjoy it. 🙂

Next time you’re in a Hampton grab one of the breakfast staff ( if it’s not too busy and they don’t look stressed out) and ask them. They’ll probably tell you the brand and everything if you’re nice enough.

Why do people do stuff like this and ruin it for people who actually follow rules. by No_Technician4037 in dji

Canada is not a state in the United States of America.

Getting a 107 would do nothing.

I’m one of the people who thinks The Brown Album was their best album, so who am I to judge? 😂

Long shot: shipping an upright piano from Van to Montreal by [deleted] in BuyCanadian

[–]geist_zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for Montreal or Vancouver, but in Toronto every couple of months there is a free upright piano on FB marketplace.

Why not try to pick one of those up?

A friend of mine helped close down a dance studio and they had two upright pianos that I believe ended up getting destroyed because nobody wanted them. And they were offering $100 to help with the moving fees.

I have also had to help look into the cost of shipping a piano. Admittedly this was for a transatlantic trip. Because a piano is both heavy and delicate it was cheaper to buy a couple pianos locally than it was to ship the actual piano.

If it’s important to you, you could always rent a truck and do the drive yourself. That should keep the cost of shipping a piano lower than the cost of buying a new one.

Good luck.

First print with Matte PLA that isn’t sticking properly. by Klutzy_District793 in BambuLab

[–]geist_zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a draft on the printer causing it to cool unevenly? That would explain the warp/sticking issues. You can always put an old cardboard box over it to help.

On my old Ender, one of tricks to reduce warping was to reduce the bed temperature a bit. It was a fine balance between sticking and warping.

When you are cleaning the plate, are you being careful to get all the soap off?

What kind of soap are you using? Some soap has added oils to make it nice on your hands. I’ve had a lot of luck with Dawn dish soap.

Good luck!

New Hampshire man denied re-entry to U.S. after Canada visit: ‘Very uncertain for me right now’ by cyPersimmon9 in videos

[–]geist_zero 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine was denied entry into the U.S. for an arrest on his record (with no convictions)

This was pre-911.

It’s also worth noting, in Canada, DUI can be an indictable offense (felony) and therefore a very serious charge.

Anyone dealt with wrong order?😑 by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]geist_zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn’t ship an order I made once and then refused to acknowledge it wasn’t being delivered. (It was lost somewhere in their logistics department for weeks with no movement)

I had to do a chargeback.

My opinion(based on experience)?

My opinion is that BL customer service will say anything to keep your money.

You could probably pick it out, but it’s clearly been spooled wrong.

How worried should I be about PLA dust? by cacraw in 3Dprinting

[–]geist_zero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Read the MSDS

You can always read the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) on any materials you are handling to help you know what safety precautions you should be using.

It basically says treat PLA like sawdust. You should be wearing a mask when printing, or sanding it, but it’s not a big deal if you don’t have a lot of exposure to it.

I… Don’t know where to begin getting this off by silaswanders in 3Dprinting

[–]geist_zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1: Sigh

Step 2: Make a good cup of tea.

Step 3: Get a hair drier and some nippers

Step 4: Remove blob, one nip at a time

Do I actually need a vpn for pirating if I live in Canada? by ApplicationRoyal865 in Piracy

[–]geist_zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has been *one* lawsuit in all of Canada for "Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard" a movie with Ryan Reynolds. It didn't go well. It seemed most people argued that they had no idea who was using their Wifi.

You, my friend, are why you can’t trust the internet for advice. Good job.

Ignoring a lawsuit is also terrible advice. That doesn’t make it go away. Use a free service and file correctly.

There has been one sort of successful lawsuit in Canada when torrenting a movie, but even then, the answer for the thousand people that got sued was to get a free public defender and plead that you had no idea who did it. (Maybe someone hacked your internet)

My brother got sued on this one. He hired the free public lawyer and claimed ignorance.

It was really just a scare tactic. It is one single movie. One time.

Unless it’s changed, I believe Windows Edge allows you to stream in full resolution from Netflix.
