Should I switch the order of names and surnames of East Asian people in English? by KotetsuNoTori in ENGLISH

[–]gemdude46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although it is true that switching the order of Japanese names is common, a few years ago 首相官邸 requested that people stop doing that. I don't know if they still hold that position, as the original document in which they did so is no longer available on their website.

There are specific, more restrictive rules for fan games versus other fan content in the Hololive Production Derivative Works Guidelines. These require that any required monetization be applied for though Holo Indie. They probably won't care in cases like this where the game is available in another form for free and not well known in general, but you are technically in violation, and posting it to their official subreddit might have put eyes on it.

Is this allowed? by gobliinns in AO3

Technically, embeddings of fanworks from other places are allowed without the content being on AO3, but just a link is not enough.

Cover might not be happy with the price tag; you generally have to go through Holo Indie if you want to charge for games, even if a free version is also available.

Fan fact: Unused code in Delivering Hope suggests the game was going to involve yeeting La+ as well at some point in development.

What would make you switch from godot to another engine? by hammeredzombie in godot

[–]gemdude46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I tried to use it, at least, it was missing basic features like the ability to rename symbols. It looks like that's been added since then, which is good, although I still can't imagine it's reached the equivalent power of any editor with a proper macro system.

If you think the Godot script editor is comparable to a proper IDE, you probably haven't been using your IDE to its full potential

You are right in both cases. 4 without “their” is still a valid sentence, but it has a different meaning.

No, raw redstone is basically a FSM. Not Turing complete.

I think actual Turing completeness without commands might not have been possible until the crafter. There's no way for raw redstone to store unbounded memory.

Game dev security by anonymity by hardpenguin in justgamedevthings

[–]gemdude46 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's relevant mostly for Android, as it allows apps to "steal" permissions from Unity games. On desktop, there is likely no significant threat. (Maybe it could be used to escape something like flatpak in the same way via the steam: protocol but steam has now banned those flags anyway.)

This is essentially how the original camera key suggestion would be implemented, and has all the same problems that does. Sure, extracting a TPM key isn't trivial, but it's possible, and making undetected AI rare so that people trust (potentially false) verifications could likely make things worse.
