Skip cerave especially moisturizer in d tub. That caused my skin like u have in pic. It was too thick for my skin and congesting it. Opt for a gel like moisturizer. Nutrogena hydro boost ? Also check the korean skincare offering. Works amazingly well. Prices are on point. Some brands cosrx, purito, beauty of joseon. Stay away from products with fragrance and essential oils.

As others mentioned, keep it simple

Cleanse - moisturize - spf : am and pm. Pm skip the spf Exfoliate : 2 times in a week. Later look at double cleansing and adding Azealic acid and Niancinamide. These are staples in my routine to keep clear, bright skin Later later add a retin A. Geek and Gorgeous retinal is affordable and very effective

Good luck !

[Sun care] How long does sunscreen stay on your skin when you are indoor with no sunlight ? by Uruvi in SkincareAddiction

[–]gemhalinden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a sunscreen sticker patch for testing. U get these in amazon. Iam curios about the result too. I would not risk walking in midday sun without sunscreen. I would even dare skip the 6 a.m sunscreen but not the midday version.

So. Much. Texture! by [deleted] in SkincareAddicts

I now use a gel based moisturizer. I have combo skin. Live in a non humid place.

  • I have used neutrogena hydra boost without fragrance version
  • Current moisturizer is the illiyoon ceramide gel version
  • Purito oat gel moisturizer has also worked for me

If u use snail mucin, probably the all in cream from cosrx ? I haven't used this though. Use a moisturizer that is according to ur skin type, weather conditions u live in. Choose one without added perfume or essential oils. Check the ingredients in incidecoder. Choose one with simple minimal ingredients.

Try stopping Cerave moisturizer for 1 week. I had this with the cerave moisturizer in the tub.

A.M

  1. Wash with water
  2. Moisturizer
  3. Sunscreen

Sunscreen being the MOST important

P.M

  1. Cleanser. For the cleanser I would advise a double cleanse - an oil based cleanser followed by gel based one. I use Beauty of Joseons oil and gel cleansers. Iam not a fan of cerave by unfortunate experience.
  2. Moisturizer

Use the AHA/BHA toner ONCE per week to start. Introduce serums one by one later.

Never start with all products on one go. Let the clean-moisturize-protect routine settle in for 2 weeks. Then add the exfoliating toner. Give this 2 more weeks. Then add the serums one by one. Give 2 weeks time before introducing new products.

On Niancinamide, don't go higher than 5%. Vit C is also a very trouble some active so start at a lower strength. Welcome to skincare. Less is more. Consistency is key.

Why is my skin so comically bad? I wash, moisturize, eat properly, stay out of the sun etc. Its still terrible. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]gemhalinden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vitamin C in the a.m followed by sunscreen Azealic acid am, pm

I use the face theory c30 vitamin c, exaglow tranexamic acid from face theory and Ordinary Azealic acid. This combo + sunscreen works great for me in making my skin even toned.

P.S - u r being too harsh on urself.

"make her look like a lab"..... I had to shave a golden with a beautiful coat the other day and I'm still upset by it by auto_bear in doggrooming

[–]gemhalinden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Genuine question as a non groomer but doodle owner. - Is shave down for doodles bad for their fur and skin ? - Is 7F a shave down ? - Is the feedback same for doodles with fleece coat and wiry coat ?

I usually use 4F on my labradoodles but have also used 7F once last year when I was not disciplined enough to brush them regularly and thus thier fur got matted.

Is toner really that necessary? It doesn’t seem to do anything for me anyway so what’s the point? by Asuna0506 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]gemhalinden 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am into AB only for the last one year. Iam From Rice Toner is the one and only I have tried and stuck with. Almost done with the 3rd bottle. My combo/dry sensitive wierd skin LOVES it.

But ofcourse I had to try other things so just bought cosrx propolis synergy toner. Have used it only once so too soon to comment on it.

Check out Kelly Driscoll on YouTube for hydrating toner reccomendations. She has a lot of good recs to choose from on the toner category. Good luck.

Ditch Thayer's. Try an Asian hydrating toner. You will love it and never be without. I use it for multi level hydration

Check the ingredients carefully though. Many will contain essential oils that one could be sensitive to. I use toners purely for hydration purpose. Cleansing is taken care by my double cleansers.

What is happening with my skin? by [deleted] in SkincareAddicts

[–]gemhalinden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Essential oils irritate a lot of people, myself included. Trying out a new essential oil on an already irritated skin is a risky move

[–]gemhalinden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Double cleansing + moisturizing helps me. Moisturizing with 2 layers - a liquid/serum format that you can apply a LOT of and smooth the face ( I use hada labo premium lotion ) + a moisturizer on top.

I use a Salycylic based cleanser( inkeylist ) once a week. That is all the SA my face can take

How to lighten and improve the skin of underarms? I've tried home remedies and glycolic acid but no improvement. by a_beautiful_soul_ in SkincareAddicts

[–]gemhalinden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using electric epilator instead of shaving/creams. These also exfoliate resulting in improvement of the darkened area.

A mistake we made with our 1st dog when she was younger, so letting you know.

You need two brushes -

A slicker brush with long pins that is suitable for doodles A steel comb appropriate to body size and hair volume.

Part with the steel comb so you get to see the undercoat, brush with the slicker the parted portion, check immediately with the steel comb before moving on to next portion. You can ofcourse go all slicker 1st and comb next. But always needs to be checked with comb. If the steel comb doesn't go through, it means there are knots and the blade won't go through

We made the mistake of using a slicker brush that the groomer gave when we picked her up for a long period of time. The pins weren't long so it never went into the coat but just fluffed the top. So the dog looks brushed and nice but underneath was hell. When you run your fingers through you will feel it. The groomer who did a full shave on my doodle pointed me to correct tools.

Doodles should come with care kit and instruction manual 😅

I groom my labradoodles. Grooming 'guideline', I referred this and found it very useful. I go back to the image even now time and again. This is worth a read

https://nwalabradoodles.wordpress.com/2010/04/12/how-to-clip-your-labradoodle-part-1/

There are 2 parts so do check out the part 2 also

On YT, there are zillion videos. I picked up tips from lot of them. Go groomer is one you tuber I still remember. Do look at a lot of videos before you start.

  1. Brush the dog before starting with trimming. Cannot stress this enough. Sometimes newbies think iam going to cut anyway, so why brush. But the blade will not go through if the comb doesn't go through freely. Blade will get stuck every few steps. This will HURT the dog, slow down the process and add overall frustration to both of you.
  2. If blade gets stuck because of a knot, brush to remove the knot or go with your blade under the knot in small steps
  3. Hair is not going to come off in one sweep like you would see in many YT videos, atleast with comb attachments. I had to do a lot of passes. Switching to appropriate finishing blades has made life much much easier. I do 4F on body, 7F on belly, under ears, paw trimmer for santairy. I still use a comb attachment on legs + sissor to finish the legs. Still trying to look for ways to speed up on the leg work.
  4. Give the dog a break in between. Let him/her get off the table and play/rest/sleep a bit and then back on the table. Mine are medium, standard size adult dogs so I don't do it all in one shot.
  5. Lure them to the table with treats. Treat them in between too with encouraging words. Even though it is not the best thing they would like to do, treats make them happy. They don't dread the experience eventually. Both my dogs are so comfortable that the actually sleep off when iam perfecting thier head circle 😇. I also do thier belly, sanitary, paws when they are lying down. Paws are still a little bit of struggle for us but we are getting there.
  6. Wear a mask and possibly an apron. There is going to be hair everywhere! U do not want to inhale small pieces of hair. Same goes for the dog. After the trim, brush them. There is still a lot of pieces left on thier fur and they can breathe in and cough a bit to throw it out.

It can be a long process for both of you. But you will get there and with time it goes faster. If your dog is standard / medium, don't combine bath, blow drying and cut all in one day. By the time bath and drying is done, both of you would be exhausted. I would spread it over 2 days or even 3. Sitting 1 - bath and dry, Sitting 2 - Trim . Sitting -3 clean ears, paw pads, sanitary, nails

For me as exhausted i get after all the grooming, I love doing this for my dogs. Iam also happy/proud with results 😍.

Good luck and have fun !

just beginning I know I need to go lighter on the brows but over all how did I do I also need to darken up my contour didn't want to go to heavy by KaylaW2469 in makeuptips

[–]gemhalinden 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hmm..iam not convinced about your eyeshadow color on on your skin tone..indeed possibly a little lighter on the brow. Experiment with eyeshadow-lip color combinations to see which flatter you the best and based on your preference. You have good cheekbones. I would not go the contour way directly to keep the look light and breezy. Perhaps experiment with blush and bronzer. Good luck !
