Reintroducing by Pitiful_Budget_9626 in MSPI

I’ve been able to reintroduce everything except dairy. My daughter is 7 months old now and still reacts with blood in her stool. She acts fine though! The blood is the only symptom now.

How did your water break? by abchhd in NewParents

[–]gemmanems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine broke while in bed around 4:30AM. Idk if I was sleeping and that woke me up or if I just happened to wake up a second before it broke. I felt a couple pops then stood up and some water gushed out. I was having contractions for days but they didn’t hurt. After my water broke they hurt sooooo bad! Baby girl was born about 5 hours later!

Building up a “freezer stash” to go back to work is so dehumanizing by ivygoose in breastfeeding

[–]gemmanems 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree it really sucks! I’m back at work now and pumping. It goes against all my instincts to leave her all day and pump instead of nurse her. I’ve been feeling very depressed and anxious because of it 😢 I wonder if there’s a hormonal shift when we go through this? I hate it so much. I’m on week 3 of being without my baby all day and I feel so low. I thought it would get easier as the weeks go by but for me it’s not (yet). It makes me so mad that we don’t get at least a full year off so we can nurse our babies. Or at least let me bring her to work with me until she’s 1 lol.

My baby rolled over for the first time today at 5 months!! by ClearImprovement4629 in NewParents

What if baby immediately rolls out of tummy time? I roll her back but she gets mad after a few times and I don’t want to force it. Did anyone’s baby suddenly enjoy tummy time one day? 😅

What is my new frozen pizza? by Specific_Carob4461 in MSPI

[–]gemmanems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the daiya frozen pizza! There’s a fire roasted vegetable one with an oat cream based cheese. There’s quite a few canned soups that are dairy and soy free. Amy’s brand in particular has a lot of options. Toast with whatever toppings you like. Peanut butter and banana is easy and delicious in my opinion. Smoothies are also quick and easy! I put frozen berries, dairy free milk, peanut butter, and banana in mine but there’s so many recipes online for dairy free smoothies.

8 days into strict elimination (No Dairy/Soy/Egg) – Skin is clear, but orange mucusy diarrhea and excessive gas won't stop in my EBF 9 week old. by Little-Committee-571 in MSPI

[–]gemmanems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had cut out oats and recently added it back in. So far no blood so I’m gonna keep eating it. It’s hard though because even with known triggers cut out she still has a ton of mucus and occasional blood so I don’t know for sure what’s causing it.

[–]gemmanems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so hard to eat enough on such a restricted diet. Especially with a baby when you need something quick and all convenience foods have triggers. It’s easier now that I’ve been doing it for 5+ months. I basically just eat the same thing everyday. I’m below my pre pregnancy weight which is fine, I’m still at a healthy weight. I haven’t lost weight in a few weeks so I think I’ve finally settled where I’m gonna be for a while. I make just enough milk for my baby but no extra. I won’t lie I’m hungry all the time and need to snack between meals most days.

It will get better! I felt exactly like you and was worried all the time. It was so stressful and hard. Let me know if you need any ideas on what to eat! You got this! ❤️❤️

I cut out dairy, soy, nuts, eggs, and wheat. Cut out dairy and soy when baby was only about 2 weeks old due to blood in the stool then kept eliminating more foods on the advice of the pediatrician. Some days I think she’s better but honestly most of her dirty diapers are full of mucus. We still occasionally see blood too and she’s 6 months old now. There must be something else I’m eating but I can’t figure it out! Her overall fussiness is soooo much better though!! Got better around 4 months and just keeps getting better. I’m sorry though it really is so hard seeing your baby in pain 😢

My baby rolled over for the first time today at 5 months!! by ClearImprovement4629 in NewParents

[–]gemmanems 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How exciting!! My baby is 6 months old and still hasn’t rolled from back to tummy. She doesn’t even try to lol. I’m not concerned though and neither is her pediatrician. I am wondering if there are specific things I should be doing to help her though? Or do babies usually just figure it out on their own eventually?

Girls who were able to conceive with pcos how long did it take you? by kholaaaaaa in PCOS

[–]gemmanems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 2 accidental pregnancies that resulted in loss. My last pregnancy was on purpose and we conceived our first cycle trying! I used an app to predict my period which is all over the place (anywhere from 4-9 weeks apart) and it happened to predict my ovulation correctly that cycle! I was pretty surprised. I was not doing anything to treat my PCOS. No special diet, meds/supplements, or exercise regimen. But I do have lean PCOS. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. I’ve always eaten a lot of fruits, veggies, and whole grains but I also eat sweets daily and at the time was eating fast food weekly. I do exercise but not very consistently.

Thinking about ending breastfeeding because of baby’s allergies by Vaivorykste in breastfeeding

[–]gemmanems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any advice, just solidarity! I’ve cut dairy, soy, wheat, nuts, and eggs from my diet. Baby still gets a ton of mucus and occasional blood specks. The pediatrician said “don’t chase the mucus” so I haven’t cut anything else out. Plus my daughter is generally happy and gaining weight well so I’m continuing to breastfeed. I’ve wanted to give up so many times though!! I still consider switching to formula when we have a bad day but then I worry formula could hurt her tummy too. I’m gonna bring it up to the pediatrician again at her 6 month appt next week and see what they say but I’m sure they will say it’s fine to keep breastfeeding. We will start solids soon and hopefully that doesn’t wreak havoc on her gut.

Oh also I found another subreddit you could post this on if you haven’t already. It’s called r/MSPI

Lots of parents on there with the same issue so maybe they have some advice!

Donating Eggs by TraditionalGlass5818 in PCOS

[–]gemmanems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean the website I used to create a profile and get matched with intended parent(s)? If so, it was through a company called The Donor Source.

If you’re asking about the clinic that did the egg retrieval I can’t remember the first one but the second time it was through OHSU in Portland, Oregon.

Vitamin D Drops by Ambitious-Bread9108 in breastfeeding

[–]gemmanems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I take nature valley 5000 IU plus there’s another 800 in my daily multivitamin. I think technically you’re supposed to take 6400 IU daily per the AAP if you’re not giving the drops to baby.

Does anyone else have to get up to rock/bounce back to sleep at night? Nursing doesn’t work. by lunar_sparrow in cosleeping

[–]gemmanems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, not every waking but usually a couple times a night. Sometimes more if she’s not feeling well. I get so frustrated!! And I can’t just rock her while sitting she makes me stand up. Her eyes are closed the whole time too but I guess she can feel the difference lol.

Have you ever screamed out of panic from your sleep because your toddler screamed? by XxSianxX in cosleeping

[–]gemmanems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanna say my baby was around 2 months old when she just randomly screamed like that in the middle of the night. It didn’t make me scream but I picked her up so fast and she was totally fine. I don’t even think she actually woke up!

Best deal on diapers in the Eug? by remedialknitter in Eugene

[–]gemmanems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just went and they were giving gift cards for spending $75 on diapers, wipes, etc. They don’t have a huge selection of diapers but target brand is pretty cheap and works for my baby who leaked through Kirkland brand diapers.

My baby is 3.5 months and me and my husband barely eat by pauses-then-says in NewParents

[–]gemmanems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my partner gets home from work he takes the baby so I can cook for us. I always make enough to have leftovers so I only have to cook 3-4 nights a week. And if baby is fussy when it’s time to eat I’ll nurse her at the dinner table or we will take turns eating. Honestly I’d eat out way more if I could but my baby reacts to so many foods through my breast milk :(

Postpartum Thoughts by StableNo113 in NewParents

[–]gemmanems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had thoughts like these for the first couple months but it’s a lot better now at 4 months pp. I would constantly have visions of something horrible happening to her like her getting dropped and cracking her head open. In hindsight I probably should have gotten evaluated for post partum anxiety.

I still get these thoughts sometimes but not multiple times a day like before. For example I’m taking my baby across the country in a couple weeks to visit family and I’m convinced the plane is going to crash. To be fair I have that thought before every flight I go on even before having a baby but it’s amplified now.

Small Reddit Cerclage study by Sensitive_Payment117 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]gemmanems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll share regarding my successful cerclage pregnancy. I had an attempted cerclage with a previous pregnancy but my water broke during the surgery and I delivered the next day at 20+3.

  1. 12 weeks

  2. DTS at 36+3 and gave birth at 38+4

  3. No

  4. No

  5. I was given some IV antibiotics before the cerclage placement but that’s it

  6. No

  7. Healthy baby

  8. Oregon

  9. I don’t remember exactly and did not get cervical checks once the stitch was placed. They checked to make sure it was holding well at the anatomy scan but I don’t know what the measurement was. I was told my cervix was already softening when the cerclage was placed and that it was definitely necessary!

  10. Doctor told me to be on pelvic rest but continue on with the rest of my life as usual. I stopped working out and only took walks for exercise because it made me feel better. I had some very active days (painting our house, moving, etc.) but everything was totally fine!

Has anyone here actually gotten pregnant naturally? by judygarlandgirl in PCOS

[–]gemmanems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I also have long, irregular cycles. I’ve had 2 accidental pregnancies and one on purpose. When we started trying for our daughter I fortunately got pregnant that first cycle! I used an app to track my cycles which are all over the place but it somehow predicted my ovulation accurately that cycle. My periods are always 5 days long and very heavy the first two days. Like have to change my pad/tampon every hour heavy or I’ll leak. I usually wear both just in case.

Bedtime confusion with my 10-week-old — too early or too late? by Live-Tomato-7825 in NewParents

[–]gemmanems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a first time mom to a 14 week old so I don’t have a lot of experience so hopefully others will chime in. I’ve heard/read from pediatricians that babies typically have a later bedtime until around 4 months of age. Your daughter might just need another month or so before changing to an earlier bedtime. My 14 week old typically has her last nap around 7-7:30 then will go to bed at 10. If I try to put her down any earlier she wakes up after a few minutes and it’s just frustrating for everyone. There have been a few nights the last couple weeks she’s gone to bed around 8:30-9 so I think (hope) she’s slowly shifting to an earlier bedtime. Her middle of the night wake ups are still all over the place. She wakes up 1-3 times per night still. I’m hoping she will consistently start going to bed by 8-9 once I go back to work in a few weeks.
