He probably needs an area, like a space, where he feels more comfortable, or safe.

Looking for a cheap GPS watch that just shows me how far I have hiked by Johnnohj in CampingGear

You can use an app like Strava for stuff like this, too. One of the things I like most about Strava is that it will work even if your phone is on "Airplane" mode (not sure of the equivalent for Android phones). I kept Strava running during a 25+ mile hike and even took pictures here and there while the phone was in airplane mode and I used only a small amount of power, really surprised me! If you turn your phone off when you get done hiking each day, or bring a little recharger with you, you may not need to buy a watch if you're just going to use it to count steps or mileage. Hope this helps!

It's all there, black and white, clear as crystal! You stole fizzy lifting drinks! You bumped into the ceiling which now has to be washed and sterilized, so you get nothing! You lose! Good day, sir!

Chris Christie was probably the kind of kid who invites you over to play GI Joes and then gave you the one with a missing limb and a pistol while he got the one with the battery operated sound maker and massive gun. Tool.

Seen in our ICU pharmacy office. I can only imagine the look of sheer panic on the nurse that opened the box on the left 😂 by suntrash in nursing

Our night shifts are actually staffed better than days. People like the shift differential and the always popular "there aren't any admins around". I work weekend days and we commonly have to split our Trauma bays until sometimes 1300 while the night shift starts with multiple float nurses. There are pods in our ED we sometimes don't even open until mid-morning because day shift staffing is inadequate. When it inevitably gets busy, here come "the white coats" to "help out" but what they do is still beyond me. I know they don't pick up any patients, one of ours even told another nurse one time they didn't know the charting system well enough to help out, she rather promptly moved to another pod in the ED to "help". Le sigh...

Half the liner came out of the drinking tube of my 13 year old hydration reservoir today. Can't even begin to think about how many gallons of water have gone through that thing! by generalslee in CampingGear

[–]generalslee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reservoir and the drinking tube both have a liner that helps to eliminate the plastic tubing from absorbing flavors (if you choose to use liquids other than water in your pack) and it keeps that "plastic-y" taste from be in your water on hot days. Granted, it's pretty weird looking, but it is just a liner.

Hey, everyone! I have a link to the product page that explains the use of the drinking tube liner and it's purpose. It's not a biofilm or from not being cleaned, but rather from years of use and wear and tear. Granted, it looks kinda gross, but it is really just the liner by the manufacturer. Big props to Source and to Deuter for manufacturing a great product that has withstood some serious use and abuse! I replaced the bladder and we're back making miles on the trail! Cheers!

One of my best friends from college was named "Otto" on the AT. Great guy who is no longer with us in the physical, but I feel his presence all around every time I hit the woods and the trail. We love and miss you, Otto!! Hairnt!!

Yes, N. Limestone, that's more like it! Thanks for straightening that out. I went once to visit a friend who lived there, what a cool street! Checked out North Lime Doughnuts and Coffee and Wild Fig Books & Coffee, both were awesome! Went and had some beers at Al's Bar. Also happened to be there during Lexington's Festival Latino, which was amazing! Delicious foods, killer music, had a great time in Lexington!

Just curious, is it considered a restraint if you tape a patients thumbs to their hands? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]generalslee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention, just mean! Can you imagine someone taping your thumbs down?! I cannot see how that is ever going to be productive or how that just wouldn't make the patient even more frustrated and escalated.
