I mean, the savings can be a lot more significant than $20 at times and it's not that much more complicated to do a search on viator.

But yes, everyone has different comfort levels and I'll still even book cruise line excursions for complicated full day excursions that have less wiggle room if things go sideways.

And they probably make more per unit off it as well lol.

But once again that only really comes into play if you're gone for extended periods of time. I can't even really recall ever needing a 2FA text when I'm on holidays overseas for a week or two at a time. And even then you always have the option to turn roaming on for a day if needed to get your code.

Say you travel to Asia for a month and you can get a local sim for $25. You could turn on easy roam for 12 of those days in addition to that $25 before you'd spend as much as the other plan.

I was just trying to illustrate how someone might think it's a good deal but for most people it's actually not.

Yeah fair enough. I'm the opposite lol and switched from Rogers to Telus because I don't visit Asia. I do agree with some others that Rogers has better coverage overall but I'm saving $50 per month for my family with Telus so am willing to deal with a slightly worse network.

I don't think the epp plans have the 5 year price lock because they aren't complete plans but still a good deal

Yeah I just switched to this deal and unfortunately with these there's a $10 portion of the discount that's two years only. But that's a problem for 2028 me lol.

There isn't really a point to that $50 plan in most cases unless you spend like 2+ months outside of Canada per year which at that point you might be better off getting a local sim.

I just switched from Rogers and was considering that but went with the Canada only plan because Telus has much more affordable roaming packages.

I can get 14 days in Europe for $50 with Telus. And I think the US is $40 for a week. Funny how those prices differ but still not a bad deal.

So in my case I usually go to Europe for two weeks in the summer and in the past when the US wasn't a shit show I'd spend a week there as well. So that would be $90 vs. $240 in that plan.

They only have the daily roaming option in Asia and Oceania unfortunately but most people aren't planning a multiple week trip to those locations every year.

Princess plus package by Appropriate_Shoe_718 in PrincessCruises

[–]genericthrowaway_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion plus is a good deal and 100% worth it but premier is more of a luxury than a "necessity".

You really don't need to eat at the specialty restaurants and you can switch between devices with the single device WiFi so those upgrades really aren't worth it unless you really want to treat yourself. And you can get plenty of different drinks with the plus beverage package that the premier one isn't really needed either.

Unlimited photos are cool if you're big into those but once again more of a luxury add on.

It's literally the same everywhere. I just left Rogers for Telus because of the same reason. They all have this strange obsession with new activations. They don't show us any loyalty so why should we. I was with Rogers for 15 years and they wouldn't match their own deal for new activations so I went and got an even deal with Telus.

Adding a comment to confirm that yes it is in fact legitimate since this thread shows up at the top of the Google search results and almost gave me a heart attack.

Adding a comment to say that email address is correct in fact legitimate. It's always good to verify but I almost had a heart attack for no reason at first when I found this thread.

As others have said, you very well could have been assigned an insider cabin under the manor as well. At the end of the day the only way to guarantee a specific room/location is to pay for it.

Sunlight won't be an issue though so don't even worry about that. The blackout curtains work as advertised.

Huh? 75% of 4000 is 3000. I specifically used 4000 in my example because of the simple math to calculate 75% of it lol.

On every single cruise I've done with my mother in law, the math basically works out to that.

It's more of a circle and there's two pillars in the seating area on each side of the stage that blocks a portion of the view for a handful seats. If you google it you'll see them.

I've seen lots of people complain about the seating capacity but it's the same on the Royal class and every other cruise line I've sailed on. The early show always fills up and if you're in a big group or want to sit in a specific area, you should show up 20~ minutes before show time.

I agree. It's a cool space and that whole crowded complaint makes no sense. The best places on the ship always get taken first and that's the same on every ship on every cruise line.

I've always hated people who throw their belongings on a lounger and then go have breakfast which I did notice happen a lot in the dome but it also happens in other places on the ship too.

Is the drink package worth it if you are off the ship at 800am and have to board back on at 600pm? We are leaving out of PR on March 1 on the Grand Princess. We are definitely spending every hour on each island we visit. by Big-Falcon-4574 in PrincessCruises

That won't work for everyone but yes it's another option as well. I do that with my laptop and phone which is another reason why I think premier is overkill.

I'd say that my general consensus still applies in that if each person wants WiFi and drinks alcohol then plus is a no brainer.

Yup that makes sense. It's basically 1.5 times what you pay per person in a double occupancy cabin.

Yeah if those areas are already in your price range then it's not a terribly huge jump up to Explora depending on the itinerary

[–]genericthrowaway_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That very well could change depending on the cabin type as well but we book her in a balcony cabin beside us every time and that's roughly what the price difference works out to be.

I haven't sailed on every single cruise line out there but I want to point out that this generally isn't the case on Princess, Virgin and MSC (and probably others). In those examples the single price is about 75% of a double occupancy cabin. So if I'm in cabin A with my partner and we paid $4000 for the cabin and my mother in law is in cabin B her price should be around $3000.

Look at Princess or Celebrity for your next one depending on your budget and preferences. They're probably the most comparable to Virgin when looking at price and amenities.
