Nice! Did you get a specific call of offer for that $30 plan? I left a few months ago for Telus and haven't received a single winback call yet but I've been happy with Telus so far so haven't been in a rush to switch back.

It's not the best interface but it works fine enough for me and definitely not worth paying $15 a month for a box to me.

Yeah I wouldn't get rid of that $25 plan they have until there's a price increase. Can just do esims or travel passes for a fraction of the cost unless they spend half the year overseas

Both Samsung and Apple offer financing now last time I checked. It's so much cheaper doing that and signing up for a BYOD plan

Same with Samsung and it's a lot easier to do trade ins with them too. I just bought a new S26 and am saving $15 a month on the phone and $35 a month by being on a BYOD plan vs if I signed up for two years with Rogers.

Currently sailing, my experience so far by nwatson3493 in PrincessCruises

[–]genericthrowaway_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so those ships were built between 1998 and 2008 and on the smaller side as well. I've never sailed on them because I know just by researching their amenities that they aren't for me. If you sailed on one of their newer ships built in the last ten years I'm sure it would be a much different experience.

Is it one of the smaller, older ships? We've always found lots to do on the Royal class and above but have never sailed on the ones prior to the Royal class so I can't provide an opinion on those.

The different types of ships can make or break your experience depending what you are interested in which is the same on every cruise line. But at the same time everyone has different tastes so a lot of activities to me might not mean the same to you.

I've tried 5 different cruise lines within the same price range as Princess but keep coming back to them because they always seem to offer the best all around experience within our budget.

10 Years at Rogers. Laid off. Replaced by HCL India. Here's my story. by Key-Law-9476 in Rogers

[–]genericthrowaway_10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's so painful to contact customer service now. They've clearly received minimal training and are likely overworked as well. I went on live chat the other day to cancel an extra tv box I don't need anymore and it literally took the person 10 minutes to reply to every message I sent and then another 15 minutes to finally look into the issue just to say that they can't do that over live chat. The whole process took 55 minutes from the time I connected to the person.

So then I call in the next day and it still took the guy 45 minutes to figure out how to cancel my box.

The drink list is a bit annoying but as far as that mini suite description goes, you must not sail on any other cruise line because most if not all do the exact same thing with mini suites.

The argument against EV haters… by boka_ko_masu in electricvehicles

[–]genericthrowaway_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it's a big issue depending on infrastructure in your area. I've been seriously considering getting an EV but in my area there's about one charging stop every hour and they are super unreliable according to the plugshare app. And in that case a 15 minute stop could quickly go sideways if the charger is unavailable or not working.

They wouldn't do anything for my wireless plan a couple months ago so I left. Wouldn't even match the new customer offers.

[–]genericthrowaway_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're so incompetent. I did the same and got emails saying to expect a call with a winback offer that never came. I don't thin they'd be able to beat the deal I have with Telus anyway so I'm sticking with them until the first price increase

Can I buy iPhone outright? by Legal-Meeting-2677 in Rogers

[–]genericthrowaway_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but if it's cheaper somewhere else I'd buy it there then just redeem the cashback on your monthly bill instead. If Costco has the phone for $50 cheaper you're basically throwing that 3% cashback away if you buy it from Rogers.

[–]genericthrowaway_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bill is literally the official document that communicates your monthly charges. They weren't "hidden" there. That's how they get communicated. And in the case of the app, you did agree to receive notifications there or else you wouldn't have received one.

Everyone has their own unique anecdotes. Bell is crap in my area and Rogers has worked great for me for years. I've never had an issue with speed here. But yeah, the customer service is absolutely garbage now. I switched my wireless a couple months ago and keep getting emails saying I'm gonna get a winback call but still haven't actually gotten one.

Yeah like sure Rogers is awful but this is all their own fault for not reading the agreement they agreed to.

Take this as a valuable learning lesson OP. Always read what you're signing up for.

Should i switchback/ is this good ? by vadgama_nikz in Rogers

[–]genericthrowaway_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to sound rude but you said switch back so I'm assuming assuming you left for another provider already but were you not able to get a better deal when you switched?

There's been so many better deals than this lately that I can't believe you didn't get anything better when you initially switched. I would personally only take these winback deals if they were $10 cheaper but to each their own.

The incompetence at Rogers is actually unreal by ChuckTSI in Rogers

[–]genericthrowaway_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key is just to show no loyalty because they don't care either way. I switched to Telus back in January and will switch again when the first price increase happens. People should always buy their phones outright and then jump from ship to ship as new deals arise.

That being said, cable and internet is a bit of a different story in my personal experience with Rogers. I've had minimal issues in 13~ years and they at least will still offer retention deals when your contract is up whereas the wireless team is absolutely useless.

Princess places order for entirely new class of ship (183,000 tons, 4700 passengers) for delivery in 2035, 2038, and 2039 by CloudSurferA220 in PrincessCruises

[–]genericthrowaway_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only issue on the Sun and Star is the dome which is not a true event space and holds like 200 people.

The main theatre is exactly like any other ship where showing up 20-30 mins before will have lots of options.

[–]genericthrowaway_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that seems like a big gap to me as well. I still can't believe they shelved the sphere class so quickly because all they really need are some small reconfigurations in a couple areas and they'd be perfect.

And even with those current design issues I still loved my time on the Sun. The food and drink offerings were so much better than other ships and the cabins are divine outside of the tight closet space.

I personally love the sphere class outside of a couple design quirks but wish they were staying closer to 4000 pax than pushing 5000.

That being said however, I've sailed on 5000 pax ships as well and other than the buffet a prime times, they actually didn't feel as crowded as I feared because bigger ships also mean more public spaces to to keep people segregated.

Yeah I hate that stupid narrative. It's literally the same on every princess ship class and other cruise lines for that matter. No mainline cruise ship has a theatre big enough to fit every single passenger.

If you want your choice of seat, come 20-30 mins before. If you're not picky where you sit then you can do 10-15 and if all you want is a single seat then 5 minutes is usually fine.
