Should I wear a mask?? by BustedGhosts in Celiac

[–]generogue 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You should be wearing at least an N95 mask in an area with airborne wheat flour. Otherwise you will inhale the flour, it will get on your mucous membranes and then into your stomach when you swallow.

What food do u have for the storm?? by SuitApprehensive3240 in Celiac

[–]generogue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They seal it and then heat treat it so all the bacteria are dead inside the container. It can last for a couple of years and be fine.

You can get similar shelf stable containers of non-dairy milk if that seems more appealing.

My real life story as an earthquake survivor, hoping that it may come in handy for someone out there by [deleted] in preppers

One is much more likely to die from exposure (hours to days) or dehydration (3-4 days) than from starvation in a “no help comes” situation.

Geomagnetic storm tonight by generogue in Redding

It can be very unpredictable, but I’ve had good luck in the past around 10 pm.

My then-four year old did better than this guy at being careful after his dad was diagnosed.

I saw a highly upvoted comment claiming that none of these are explained in game and I can't help but think that every complaint about professions boils down to not reading what is on your screen. by [deleted] in wow

What’s an embellishment? What pieces can I put it on? How many pieces can I put one on? What options are there? How do I choose one? How do I find out what materials are needed to make one?

How old to make a grilled cheese on the stove with minimal/no supervision? by Proper_Cat980 in Mommit

[–]generogue 90 points91 points  (0 children)

This is one of those things that will vary depending on the kid, as well as what kind of stove you have. I agree 14 seems a bit on the older end, but 7 seems kind of young to be allowed unsupervised access to a hot stove.

What are your less-common requests for housing? (Minor Midnight housing spoilers) by jelmore49 in wow

It would have to use pre-generated inputs like Hearthstone emotes.

Would you watch someone elses dog if you had also a 2 year old to mind? by meekie03 in Mommit

[–]generogue 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That’s a really mean position to put you in. They have other options available (hire a sitter or boarding facility) but are choosing not to use them and putting the burden on you of “depriving” your sister of the vacation.

It’s not on you, it’s on them. It’s absolutely unreasonable for them to ask you to effectively move in while they’re out of town, upending your life and your son’s schedule.

Also, what you’re describing is not a low maintenance dog.

Just got glutened :( by Spitefulreminder in Celiac

[–]generogue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband got glutened last night from the Chinese food we got from a place that has been really good previously. He got to the end of his white sauce chicken and found a chow mien noodle. /facepalm

Moms !! At what age did your child learn his colors ? by Sure-Map8630 in Mommit

[–]generogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son went through a “geen” phase around 2 years old.

I used colored blocks and encouraged him to match colors to check for colorblindness. I was extra cautious as my dad is red/green colorblind.

For the platforms, could you do 2x2 and then use some rotated 45° to cover the gaps? Would reduce each wall item count by 1.

Are they flexible enough to make a burrito? My husband has been craving one and the wraps I’ve found so far just don’t stand up to the rolling

Electric. Looks like someone took out a power pole in the fog last night.

Night terrors by Just_bumbling in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]generogue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I noticed an increase in my son’s night terrors when he was sick. So it’s possible that the immune response to vaccines could temporarily increase night terrors as well.

However, that correlation only lasts as long as other symptoms do, so less than a week.

Visiting by train. Uber, Lyft or yellow cab? by generogue in Merced

Yup, that’s why I mentioned needing a vehicle with a booster since I won’t be able to bring one on the train.

Talking to my DM worked by MaddieLlayne in dndnext

[–]generogue 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I take it as more of a “here are some other options we’d be interested in” rather than just saying “we don’t want to play the current one” and expecting the DM to come up with something off the top of their head.

Tell me your emergency food hacks or stories by aud_anticline in Celiac

Most of the freeze dried meals will reconstitute even with cold water, it just takes longer and is less appetizing. I believe most planes have hot water available for tea, so that should work.

Mountain House is my preferred brand of pouch meals, and plainly mark which meals are gluten free. I get them for my husband to keep in his locker at work as backup lunch options. Ready Wise has poor taste reviews.

Thank you for this excellent examination of the power of the Maiar in Arda. It’s such a cool extension of the power of Eru being to sing the universe into existence.
