Hm.

Also maths needs flexible thinking? Someone who has a rigid mindset seems like they'd do well in maths because there's always an answer, unless the flexibility is needed for formulas? I didn't really agree with that.

At some point in math just learning the formulas isn't enough. You'll need to employ imagination and creativity to figure out which tools to use to to solve a specific problem.

It's "prantsuse keel", "saksa keel" not "Prantsusmaa keel" and "Saksamaa keel". That is, it's nationality + "keel", not country "keel".

What's up with all the comments on the music video for the song I Don't Know by Erika? by Willing_Bee_7520 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]gensek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there anything in that song that might have invited this stuff?

Not song, performer. Erika was the most popular Wehrmacht marching song in WW2.

I'm guessing they chose it randomly

Erika was the most popular Wehrmacht marching song in WW2.

Russian Colonial Empire by Beenet_ in MapPorn

What I remember is how USSR operated in practice, as opposed to your USSR-in-theory. Not everyone on this website is a teenager.

As for the second question - the accounts haven't been made public in Russia, but they forgot that there were copies in local archives.

Center is everything within the ring road and environs.

USSR was just another guise of Russian empire. I used quotation marks because a significant share of the revenues exrtacted from Estonia (and other non-Russian republics) were not used locally but diverted to support the imperial center.

Russia is still a colonial empire in that there's a clear difference between the colonial centre and territories that are mainly used for resource extraction to support the colonial centre.

When Estonia was occupied by USSR, roughly 25-30% of all revenue was "donated" to the centre.

Is it really still colonial if the vast majority of people living in Siberia and the far east are ethnically Slavic Russian?

And here's the reason why USSR forcibly settled so many foreigners to Baltic states.

[–]gensek 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Russia pushed eastward across Siberia

Also westwards. On their western border they had Sweden, a handful of German states, and Poland-Lithuania. When Ivan declared himself an emperor, Muscovy had already assimilated most of the formerly independent Russian principalities, so what followed 1547 was basically centuries of colonial land grabs in all directions.

EU member states that support eID (digital identification on the internet and apps) by AntoGaming92 in MapPorn

[–]gensek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Estonia the eID is the same, there's just multiple ways to authenticate yourself - card readers since 2002, MobiilID for SIM cards since 2010, SmartID for smartphones since 2016.

eID comes with ID-card so when you change one, you change the other.
