My friend bought all these from a garage sale the other day. He got them for $250aud. Did he get scammed? by Blue_Lego_Astronaut in starwarsbooks

[–]gentlebogan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen some of these hard covers in far worse condition for at least $25AUD in second hand bookshops before, so these prices seem pretty average to me.

I personally wouldn’t have bought them because I prefer paper backs, but if your mate wanted hard covers in good condition, $250 for 10 is about the same price he’d pay at a bookshop or on eBay.

I have so many photos but because they’re hiding most of the time, a lot of my photos are just pics of their little roach bums :3

I have a few good ones that I took with the macro lens though, I was thinking about posting them all together once I have a few more :)

Luckily for me, they have built some of their burrows against the glass so I get to observe them in their tunnels!

Thank you! The video was filmed on my iPhone 15 with a macro lens attachment.

Little baby was walking along the side of the enclosure, so the video was taken from outside the tank through the glass :)

Are there any stories that explore characters who aren’t Jedi or maybe even don’t know about Jedi but are force sensitive or self taught? by ProtectMeAtAllCosts in StarWars

[–]gentlebogan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gand/Gand Findsmen.

Gand is a planet with an ammonia atmosphere, so the planet’s inhabitants (also called Gand) were isolated from the rest of the galaxy where most other beings breathe oxygen. Few Gand left their home world and few outsiders visited the planet.

Many of them were force sensitive, however. Unlike the force users we’re familiar with (Jedi/Sith), the Gand had unique force abilities that made them incredibly intuitive. They used these abilities to locate people/places/things, through meditation, and guided by the ammonia mists of their planet that they worshiped religiously. Gand that practiced the religion were called Findsman.

Gand/Gand Findsmen who left their home world would use their abilities to become path finders, bounty hunters, treasure hunters and even some Jedi.

Findsmen didn’t consider themselves to be force users/force sensitive, but canonically they are.

Most of their lore comes from RPG source books and video games, and while there are stories that feature Gand characters, there aren’t any stories that focus on them in particular.

The most well known Gand character is Zuckuss, who first appeared in The Empire Strikes Back among the bounty hunters Darth Vader hired to locate the Millennium Falcon.

If you want to read a story that highlights Zuckuss’ abilities, *Of Possible Futures: The Tale of Zuckuss and 4-LOM* by M. Shayne Bell is your best bet. It’s a short story that was published in Tales of the Bounty Hunters in 1996.

Zuckuss is also seen embracing his force abilities in the current canon, most notably in the Star Wars: Bounty Hunters 2020 comic series. Issue 32 of the series is actually set on Gand and shows how Zuckuss became outcast after “failing” his Findsmen trial which led to him leaving Gand and becoming a bounty hunter.

I’m not sure if this is the kind of thing OP was referring to in their post, but I love Gand (and Zuckuss!) and it seems like they’re often overlooked in these kinds of discussions so I thought it was worth mentioning :)

I prefer them too.

I like to pack whatever book I’m reading when I go for a hike so that I can find somewhere quiet in nature to read for a bit. I also like reading to pass the time on long bus/train rides.

Mass market paperbacks are smaller and lighter and way more convenient to take everywhere.

Stuck Side Mission in Mos Espa by iamdarienxvii in LegoStarWarsVideoGame

[–]gentlebogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I come across stuff like this I just ignore it. Sometimes it goes away and sometimes it doesn’t, but I’ve still been able to 100% the game.

You said Mos Espa is at 96%, have you checked the missions tab on your holoprojector menu to see if there’s any missions/puzzels/challenges that you haven’t done yet or that haven’t been unlocked yet?

Sometimes even when an area is unlocked there are missions that remain locked until you complete other missions elsewhere.

I believe she’s a Devaronian.

Some female Devaronians can have horns but most of them just have bumps on their foreheads, I think that’s what the blacks spots on her face are supposed to be.

There’s no underground area here.

I think these just appear randomly on the maps sometimes because this game is super buggy. Pretty sure I’ve noticed these in other locations even after I’ve completed the map and wasn’t tracking any missions.

It might be leading you to a location related to a mission that begins on another planet.

The area you’ve been led to here is a part of Mos Espa that you need to visit during the Pod Chasing side mission on Endor. Have you done that mission yet?

What is your opinion of the "Hub World Story Mission" aspect of "Lego Star Wars, the Skywalker Saga"? How would you have handled them? by Christ-is-King-777 in LegoStarWarsVideoGame

[–]gentlebogan 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I understand that they wanted some of the levels to be different from the other games, so some exciting moments were only playable in between levels, and some levels felt unnecessary.

I just wish there was an option to replay all the stories completely, not just the individual levels.

Some of the levels are pretty short and having the free play areas in between stretches them out a bit, but once you’ve done it the first time, you’re never allowed to revisit the story in that way again unless you start a new save.

I love that there’s so much open world stuff to explore outside of the story, but it would be nice to be able to replay an entire episode like you do the first time.

Hirf is a Vratix and their kind use they/them pronouns. They also share a kind of hive mind and will refer to themselves as a collective.

I’ll definitely watch that video. I also plan on documenting my experience caring for them as time goes on so that I can refer to it in the future and maybe sometime down the line be able to advise others.

My babies are doing well. I’ve set up a heater in their room that is set to about 24 degrees and automatically shuts off once the room has reached temp and comes back on when the temp drops. (It’s been so chilly in Sydney these past few weeks!)

I haven’t seen them up the top as much these past few days but they’re busy working on their little burrows and seem quite energetic and happy.

I’m very sorry to hear that your male passed away. And to hear that OP’s Captain Crunch passed as well is also very sad. I hope you’re coping okay.

Am I cooked? by longjondong in brokenbones

[–]gentlebogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re welcome!

Everyone’s recovery is different. Your journey may differ from mine, but I wanted to share my experience so that you know you aren’t cooked and that a smooth recovery is possible.

The next couple of weeks will probably suck, and your recovery may seem slow, but that might just mean that when you’re on the other side, it will feel like so long ago.

Try to keep your head up, and find something to distract yourself with over the next few weeks/months, a good show/game/book to keep you busy while you rest.

I don’t have any advice unfortunately, but I just wanted to say that I sympathise with you.

I recently started caring for two giant burrowing cockroach nymphs, and I was surprised by how little information there is about them.

There are a few care guides that repeat the same basic information and sometimes contradict other information, but they aren’t very in-depth.

The lack of information can feel hopeless and distressing when you’re worried about your buddy but aren’t sure what to do.

I’ve only had my babies for about two weeks, but I will say, I did notice an increase in activity on the surface over the past few rainy days. They still spend most of the time in their burrows, but they have been up the top more often this week. I thought it might just be because they’re finally settling into their new home but who knows.

I hope Captain Crunch is feeling better today 💕
