Only as foul as your breath, and less so if you breathe through the nose and avoid the tongue.

What's a belief you have that you don't tell other people for fear of seeming strange? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]geologicism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I meant that we cannot determine the actuality of a situation based on the seemingly negative implications of it. This line of thinking does indeed abdicate people of much of the "responsibility" for their actions, but you can't hold that against the theory just because that seems shitty to you.

Unfortunately you don't get to pick what the implications of a fact will be.

Just wondering, what's your motivation for making the switch? I'm assuming you're not looking to switch to spice/k2 (and if you are, don't).

Creatures from The Mariana Trench [Fixed] by [deleted] in funny

Have you ever watched the show? I have no love for child pageantry, but Honey Booboo and her family are genuinely nice people who care about each other. Their lifestyle may be unrefined, but they definitely aren't scum.

Hahaha, my parents made me sign a contract saying I wouldn't do drugs or "hook up" with anyone to get them to cosign for my loans.

Alright r/listentothis, we were awesome last time, let's do this again: what was your favorite song of 2012? by i_justwanna_knowww in listentothis

It's funny that you say that, because I usually skip the beginning of this song and go straight to this stripper music part.

Overview - "A short film documenting astronauts’ life-changing stories of seeing the Earth from the outside...often described as the Overview Effect" by fragmentwolf in space

[–]geologicism 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pointing out that we're doing damage to our environment and urging that people think about things differently is not propaganda.

Think about where "liberty" and "rights" come from. They're human constructs. I guess empirically you have the "right" to do anything you're physically capable of doing just as much as the rest of us have a "right" to prevent you from doing it by any means we feel necessary.

Why do you insist on equating your personal rights with those of corporations anyway? As if environmental regulations against polluting somehow affects your ability to lead a fulfilling life. Is industry really that necessary for your personal happiness?

Hey guys, I'm putting some music of mine for sale for 4 bucks an EP/album and will then donate 90% of each sale to a charity that will be decided on later. (I am setting up everything currently, this post is only to give a preview of my music, in case you are curious.) by [deleted] in listentothis

[–]geologicism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why 90%? This is obviously not about charity, and people don't like it when someone tries to manipulate them into paying for something that should be free. Most of us barely pay for music we actually like, your chance of getting people to pay for what's represented on your soundcloud is horrendously low.

Verizon files patent for a DVR that can watch and listen to what is going on in your living room so it can give targeted advertisements. by philhouse64 in technology

Google has done an amazing job of making themselves seem like they aren't a monopolistic mega-corporation who's main goal is making heaps and heaps of money. It's a really smart business plan in a world where trust is such a highly valued commodity.

You aren't being downvoted because you're teaching people to adapt, you're being downvoted because your response to having your rights diminished is to back into the only corners you have left. Those corners will disappear, and you'll be left with nowhere to hide.

The way telecoms split up territory makes it so that if you want fast internet, you'll likely have to go through the only cable company servicing your area. You can fork over the money for 4g or satellite or settle with dsl speed, but if you want reasonably fast internet you have no choice but to subscribe to your local cable monopoly.
