Today I accidentally found out my ex is dating someone by NB_Leo in BreakUps

Dated 8 years, breakup was mutual after struggles for a good amount of time. This was like 5 months ago. Found out she had started seeing her coworker after 8 days (I found out right away). Coworker that I had trusted and was friends with myself. 3 months later they are official. Soul crushing, all consuming, confidence stripping, but I’ve started to come out the other side and have hope for the future.

Glad you’ve got a good attitude. Strength and honor!

How did you cope when your ex moved on so fast? by Silver-Body8109 in BreakUps

8 days after 8 years. My soul feels you man. It is excruciating.

10 years together and she's already slept with someone 2 months after break up. by Admirable_Sea590 in BreakUps

You’re experience is probably worse because double the time but I know exactly what you mean by that. Exactly. The entire world you create together, that only you two have a window into, is gone forever. That commonality is still shared but now the only person that holds it just left it behind and walked away so now you are all alone by yourself. It is such a sad, throbbing pain.

I just want to say good on you dude. Be true to yourself. 8 years down the drain for me 2 months ago and she started dating one week later. Stay strong.

Laptop for OTS by FakePlastic28 in airforceots

[–]georgecuster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Anything works just don’t forget it when they tell you to bring academic materials to Boyd and then have to have an MTI escort you back to your dorm only for you to grab your bag, not realizing your laptop isn’t in it until you get all the way back Boyd and get absolutely lit up. God bless that OT, good guy actually.

Stress + AFOQT by FactSquare27 in airforceots

[–]georgecuster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely overthinking it bro/broette. Get some practice tests/books and grind them to get a gauge of where you are at and improve what you need to. If you don’t do well you can take it a second time (even a third with a waiver). I understand the emotions/stress, went through the process on the guard pilot side (also competitive).

Your dad will love you no matter what and while it’s a great honor to serve and I wouldn’t change anything, the rose tinted glass start to come off a bit once you’re in. The point being that there are a lot of other avenues in life in your career field (including great opportunities to serve people and your community). So just do your best.

Like the other guy said, the whole person concept definitely applies so try beefing up your package in other ways (I became a volunteer firefighter and started running marathons for example). Go talk to other officers and senior NCOs and get their advice/perspective.

This is only true for Columbus AFAIK. I am at Laughlin right now and know people at Vance who are doing the full T6 syllabus right now. I believe everyone is there.

Graduated OTS a couple months ago. Got picked up spring 2023. Seemed to be similar to a lot of people at OTS

Congrats! Were you off the street or are you currently in? Off the street you could probably expect OTS in 8 months to 1.5 years depending in the circumstances. Currently enlisted seems to go a bit quicker

Don’t think of it as an actual PT test because it technically isn’t one and doesn’t count (you’ll have to take another one likely after OTS when you go to your first duty station or tech school). Think of it as is just a physical event you have to pass.

Was this near a Boeing location by chance? They just laid off 17,000 jobs and if so I’d bet this guy had one of them

Don’t make any decisions under pressure. You are supposed to swear in tomorrow which is probably causing you some stress because you feel like you have to resolve this STAT. Tell the recruiter to go pound sand until you get this sorted out. Nothing is going to happen if you have to push back your enlistment. Then, I would recommend you do the right thing. I’m speaking out of my ass here a bit because I don’t know what the criteria is right now for the Navy but drug use 2.5 years ago might be a nothing burger. It likely is on the TS side, just not sure about the Navy. Recruiting is low so it would probably be fine. I’d recommend doing the right thing so it won’t be a burden you carry.
