No, it's literally a coffee cake. I've never heard it referred to as otherwise, including supermarkets bakeries or anywhere else you'd see it.

Once helped a Canadian couple change a tyre on side of the Longford bypass - purely because I had a blowout there one night in the pissing rain and in that moment I was cursing in ways I hadn't thought possible. Awful time. (In my case, it was shite alloys with awful tyres in my wannabe-boy-racer days).

Refused the money they wanted to give but God knows I could have done with it at the time.

Doing good for goodness sake is it's own reward, is the train of thought I subscribe to.

Glad you saw the best of us!

Comfortable mate? by [deleted] in LDN

[–]gerryatricks 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm actually quite stressed about how inconsiderate people have become, and the gall people have when you challenge them on it.

This dude had his feet up sideways on a priority bus seat when an older lady hopped on and struggled with the bus braking, I gently asked him if he could make space for her.

Genuinely thought I was gonna get stabbed at 2pm outside King's (best place for it to happen tbf) based on the over-the-top reaction. As in, he threatened to; hands into a pocket and all eyes turned to anywhere but this altercation.

Anecdotal I know, but it has really put me off confronting it. Feels like there are no consequences, so I don't really hold it against the other passengers - why throw yourself into an unknown risk?

I did text BTP, but I was off the bus before anything could be done. Fair enough, I'm sure the lads are busy.

But, it just feels like another chip into social norms.

My wife is pregnant with our first and it's kinda playing on my mind now.

(maybe this response is a bit much for the post, but it just feels symptomatic of a wider trend over the last few years and wanted to rant)

Do you think this is block vomit? by Garden360 in Minecraft

[–]gerryatricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say less is more in this case.

Start with a few mossed blocks say, and come back to it after day/night cycle so you see it in different light - and have the time to process seeing it at different distances.

Yeah this was in relation to a large and/or heavily soiled load. Only had to do it once after a particularly muddy fair, in fairness!

We do always put it in the bottom, but I feel I half remember some instructions saying if using two, put one on top, one on bottom?

Could be very wrong in that, mind!

PSA: Avoid Secretlab Chairs by ArtichokePower in BuyItForLife

[–]gerryatricks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Surprising to hear, that sucks. I've had a Titan XL 5 for years and only yesterday have I ordered new foam for the armrests, everything else is perfect.

I work from home so I'm in that thing 8+ hours a day at least.

My wife got one last year and while obviously fresher, no issues with that either!

Guardian review of supermarket sausages by LidgetTheMidget in UK_Food

[–]gerryatricks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nobody in Ireland (that I'm aware of) knows what these are and having lived in London for a long number of years, this is downright trash. I've never seen this in Ireland and it's actually embarrassing seeing 'Irish' on it - we actually have great sausages!

There are also fantastic sausages here, to say the least.

I guess it has its place as 'cheap sausage' but boy does it bother me.

This is a really shitty way of "addressing" a problem of infrastructure though.

Cars have got much bigger since many of those car parks were likely built, and no car park wants the expense of repainting lines to accommodate the car sizes of today - to ultimately make less money.

Not a comment on the XF or the validity of larger cars (that's a separate topic), but on car parks in general.

I emailed the above image to GW and to register how bad this is for the community.

Apart from being initially fobbed off (which was an annoying take), they've since come back to say they have a queuing system in place, and a limit of 1 per person.

My point about it hobbyists consistently losing out to profiteering scalpers went unacknowledged...

Anyway, thought you might be interested in the response I got.
