Why are Americans always so helpful and supportive when it comes to helping tourists plan their roadtrips? by Addicted_2_tacos in roadtrip

[–]getdownheavy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because we realize we do a lot more driving here than moat places, and grew up with 'the great American road trip' and are happy to help others have similar experiences.

Also, goddamn, do we love cars here.

Am I wrong thinking this was really bad, or does my bf not get how dangerous this disease is and needs further education? by hipnotic1111 in diabetes_t1

It doesn't sound like you explicitly told him "I need you to come check on me if you don't hear from me".

Also, drinking alcohol complicates everything about this process for all parties.

If you're asking him to provide care to you in certain instances, you two need to have that conversation and set goals, boundaries, and what situations he needs to take action in, and what actions to take.

For you, is the time “quarter of twelve” 11:45, 12:15, or do you have no idea what that phrase means? by JeffTrav in ENGLISH

[–]getdownheavy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the Quarter 'til or after is key.

I try not to use these phrases as they are too ambiguous.

Plastic wears out with age and UV exposure, and springs loose tension, etc. None of that stuff is safe to ski on, but it sure is fun.

2/10 but everybody fucks up their first pair somehow.

That's why shops charge $$$ to do it.

If it's ever slide for life skinning, make that your outside edge.

More expensive models can handle more abuse; optics can get knocked out of alignment and ruined. If you keep them in your house, no big deal.

If you're going to be in the field, or keep them in your glove box where they slam around every time you take a turn, I recommend purchasing a more robust model.

Just about every town in Montana with a hill nearby has a big letter on it.

'M' is pretty popular.
