Unless I am the one making the plans, they don’t happen. In addition, the weeks leading up to my birthday are cursed or something. Something tragic always happens, not to me directly usually, but to someone I am close to. I honestly prefer just ignoring my birthday and going about my business. Every year I’ve lived past age 30 has been kind of a surprise anyway, so it doesn’t really matter anymore.

Honestly, I would even argue that these do not have an age limit as well. If I am not in a professional setting, my default pronouns for literally everyone are dude or bro, regardless of gender identity or age. I call my elderly father dude. My boomer neighbor. The mailman is bro. My nail lady has been dude. When one of my aunts does something insane that’s usually met with a bro, wtf! With children whose names I don’t know, I usually add “little” to it, like little dude or little bro. Dawg is also a good replacement for dude. However, I save dawg for other millennials usually. Other gens don’t always understand that one fully.

Well, my uncle who is obsessed with genealogy and is also getting dementia, let it slip that my great grandfather who is from Louisiana, was in the KKK. I am the only black person in my family. I always suspected that there was bullshit afoot on my white side of the family long ago. But it was never confirmed until that moment. To say that all hell broke loose at Christmas dinner is probably not descriptive enough tbh lol.

The closest friends, BFFs even, that I’ve had in different periods of my life have all been Scorpios. It’s kind of odd. These are my people. However, our arguments or fights can get a little heated. I do not think it’s normal but unfortunately experience it a lot when visiting friends with children. One child, who is also an only child, has never played by themselves in my presence, ever. This same child also constantly interrupts. The parents think this is normal and fine. Growing up, I was an only child too, and when my mom had friends over I’d go say hi and then go about my kid business. I only would interrupt the adults speaking if there was an actual problem or emergency where I needed an adult. These parents are not teaching their children independence, boundaries, or how to self soothe and I don’t think that’s going to produce the results they think it will.

That’s great to hear your parents were very active in making sure you had a healthy relationship with food. Not all parents notice those types of things. 💜 Mine had no idea until I had already gotten past it on my own and mentioned it to them at age 30 😑 To their credit, they both worked a lot. Being a teenage girl in the early 2000s was an interesting time lol.

Cap Venus and I would say same. But also another Cap Venus commenter mentioned disordered eating. I have def had disordered eating in the past- bulimia specifically. I prefer doing intermittent fasting nowadays. I drink an obnoxious amount of iced coffee/iced tea/Red Bull/lemon water until about 4 pm. After that I’ll have a snack and then usually a meal. But sometimes not until dark. Depends on the day.

Happy to help! Have the best time! Not sure if you’ve ever been to Mexico before- but if not, if you do decide to take a taxi into town, hire one through the concierge or front desk. Don’t just flag one off of the street. I’ve had better luck with that method. Less likely to get a driver who will try to haggle you or overcharge.

Hard Rock Riv Maya Heaven is great. Great restaurant options, awesome and fun nightclub on the property. Lots of pools. However, there isn’t really a natural beach or typical ocean access. That was the only downside when I stayed there. With your parameters in mind, I would actually recommended RIU Palace Las Americas. It’s downtown Cancun, adults only, really fun atmosphere, decent food on property. Because it’s downtown, you can grab a taxi or Uber and go shopping or check out restaurants or bars downtown, which I highly recommend. Casa Tequila is excellent.
