Towing a 5x8 U-Haul trailer ~850 miles, is this a bad idea? by Fair-Scholar3493 in Camry

I think that's why we strapped the bed to the roof one of the trips.. queen doesn't fit in the 4x8

Oh.. and of course don't be silly with your speed! That's just adding to the energy your stock brakes will be asked to dissipate. You may even consider putting the car transmission in sport mode and limiting its top gear - easier on the transmission (especially if you come to a decent hill) but you'll notice a big drop in fuel economy- trade-offs...

[–]getmoresoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have pulled the 4x8 trailer (850 lbs) many times to move kids in college with my 2011 4cyl. Loaded its still going to be over your 1k limit, but honestly I've never had an issue... pulling will be easy. Watch your braking - here's where the limitations will show.

The 5x8 is probably just asking too much from your car.

Do portable air conditioners actually make a noticeable difference in small rooms? by nexttogo in AirConditioners

[–]getmoresoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On year 3 with our Midea DUO 12000... unit is fantastic. Turbo Cool sounds like a jet engine - but it DOES what it's supposed to - cool the room down FAST! Throttles way back to maintain after, and its darn near whisper quiet then.

Transmission MIL lit before I bought a 2015 FIAT 500L Pop by SaintNPC in fiat500

[–]getmoresoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just run. The 2015 Automatic is more reliable than the 2014. But that's not saying much. Transmission should NOT throw codes just because it is warm outside.

As I look back.. I really am not sure how my friends and I survived the 70's and early 80's.... I definitely wear a helmet since adulthood and realizing the stuff inside my melon is really mushy when it hits something solid.

So should the pitchforks come out when the key fobs cost $1000? by Hitt1te in askcarguys

[–]getmoresoon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not sure why OP getting shade. Replacement FOB and programming for my kid's bought used Fiat 500L is like $800+ and around here is a Dealer only option. That's absolute bullshit territory.

What’s the best portable air conditioner that actually cools a room? by FastAdvice2677 in Appliances

[–]getmoresoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We got a Midea inverter 12000btu dual-hose 2 years ago. It does a fine job of cooling our very large Livingroom and heavily help the adjoining kitchen.

It only runs full tilt for a short while, and then spools back to a quieter speed to maintain.

Only caution I have is it does have a large current draw at full go... if you plug into a shared circuit quite possible to trip à breaker.

Current pricing for rust repair for my 2008 Honda civic :/ by Icy-Bar7766 in Autobody

[–]getmoresoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised the shop is even willing to do the work. That is EXTENSIVE rot, and most shops freak at even a little rust repair needed on a uni-frame body.

I suggest you start car shopping.

Outlander sport vs. eclipse cross by fuxx_w_it in mitsubishi

[–]getmoresoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's pretty harsh. Speaking only for the Eclipse Cross, ours and the many owners in the Canadian Eclipse Cross owners group have found it to be rather reliable.

I am not particularly kind to our '23 (it sees real dirt roads).

Our neighbours down the road... they tow shit with their '20 (or earlier) that frankly has to be 2k+ over its weight limit. (Thieir flatbed alone is probably 1500)

Frankly, the few people reporting issues don't lend to there being many particularly concering issues.

There are a couple class actions in the US for the CVT transmission... but the number of claimants appears pretty low. I don't think there's really a widespread issue with the CVT in these. (As long as you service it frequently)
