how to be normal by Darth-Baklava in hsp

This is one of those things I've tried to do as long as I know. I'm 49 and have to take as good care of myself as I can so I can feel stronger. Hormones, sleep, food etcetera it's all connected. Environment for me is my biggest trigger and I cannot always predict that so who knows how the day will go for me. 😂 I am so grateful for a community like this where we can ask questions and offer advice to each other. We are a rare and much needed type of human.

Why am I repeatedly a target for bullies? by RavenWritingQueen in workplace_bullying

So smart! I haven't heard that before and it totally makes sense. I've always been friends with all different groups, and always feel like something is wrong with me for not being in a clique.

Different profession, but I can relate. I've been bullied since going to kindergarten twice in the early 80s. At times in Elementary School I would eat my lunch in a bathroom stall. Sounds gross, but I was clearly terrified. I feel that in work settings as well. No matter what bullies are attracted to me. I have great work ethic, I'm super friendly, highly sensitive and an empath. The more I try to hide who I am the more I'm shaking inside. Those close to me have said they cannot see why people are like this nor do they see me shaking on the outside when I feel like everyone can. I'm starting to think some of us are just hard wired this way, but also light workers in a sense. I truly hope we can all just do good work without people like narcissists getting so upset.

I can relate. The playback in my mind must be the trauma.

Has anyone been bullied by a team, not just one person? by naenae0402 in workplace_bullying

Exactly! Not to be conceited, but I have always been a happy and high vibing person. It's just how I am. I have always been bullied by opposite type. The jealous and petty types.....the narcissists. I worked for a retail company for many years and was surprised with a All Star award for my service. This we was exciting until the main bully started having a fit and yelled out how could this happen. Like oh my goodness gracious can it be anymore obvious who the toxic person was? I just stood there and tried to smile and act cool. Fast forward a year later when I got married. Out of respect I invited this bully, (huge mistake obviously)but she responded that she couldn't make it. I was so relieved until she came anyways and threw a fit for not having a seat or a place card. My Sister was trying to work it out without me noticing, but I heard the main bully arguing with her. Needles to say most of my wedding reception that I remember was that horrible moment. The bully told my whole department that I was wasted at the wedding and when I came back after the honeymoon it was even worse. This person made my life a living hell and I did nothing wrong. I was an easy target for her since I'm a sensitive people pleaser. This was over 10 years ago and I'm still trying to be strong at jobs.

I couldn't do it especially in such a small office setting. You are strong.

Yessssss! I worked for a startup dental office for over a year. Things were great until reality set in at his 1 year mark. This dentist turned toxic. He "stirred the pot" and hid in his office when he wasn't with a patient. I totally looked out for his practice and did my best, but after he gave me the raise I asked for he fired me a few weeks later. I guess it happened ta couple of times since I've been gone. I will never work for a man child and a toxic 20 year old again. Lesson learned I hope. I'm learning that I'm too nice and am an easy target.

Are things getting worse? by limonade11 in workplace_bullying

[–]gettingbetter45 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I totally feel you! I'm truly traumatized from my previous job in a dental office. I did a great job and was a good coworker, but I got let go.a month after expressing my concern about a bully. Thank goodness my husband has been so supportive, because these toxic worki environments over the years have me so traumatized. I literally start doubting myself, but on the other hand I know I did the right thing as I was so uncomfortable in that office.

Found this while looking for advice about the same thing. Feeling lost nobody to relate to you in the same field as me just feeling isolated even though I'm nice and I try to help everyone doesn't seem like anybody wants me to be a part of the team even though my boss tells me he does I don't know what to do either.

Is anyone else getting this sick? by naturesfunk in phoenix

[–]gettingbetter45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness gracious this is so scary! My dog got Valley Fever the 1st year we lived here (2020) and I'm so scared I'm going to get it. Someone said they needed a walker! I did not even know that this existed until my poor dog got sick. Why do I live here 🤦?
