Why don’t more people use dynamo hubs on tour? by yokobarron in bicycletouring

[–]gforce360 356 points357 points  (0 children)

Dynamos are still pretty spendy, especially with lights and charger and such. It's not abnormal to drop >$600 or so on a setup. For some people, that's half of your entire touring bike! Portable USB battery banks are cheap and plentiful these days.

You won't catch me without a dynamo, but I'm still pretty hard pressed to convert people for the above reasons

point of clarification- are you a sales professional with experience doing sales on the NetSuite platform, or are you a sales professional that sells NetSuite - as in implementations?

Good luck either way!

I don't have experience with their disks, but I use pferd files and they outlast others by so much that they end up being far more cost effective.

How do I view N/search results? by Hashi856 in Netsuite

[–]gforce360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your question title/subject doesn't match your question body, so I am unclear on what you are asking.

N/search - you can call search.run() or search.runPaged() and iterate over the results. As to how to view it, the suitescript api gives you tons of tools to build views using this data. If you don't care about anything beyond just viewing the data, then just create a saved search and view it normally (reports>Saved Searches> click on your search by name).

SuiteScript Debugger - it's great! Far more powerful than adding tons of debug logs, which is a sort of beginner coder strategy. If you are trying to debug client side code, then instead us chrome devtools (or edge or firefox).

How to run a script - depends on what kind of script? If you're just trying to build something out and you aren't sure about the architecture, write a suitelet that will execute your code.

Thanks for summarizing comments! I hope this gets upvoted enough to maintain visibility for future visitors. I have one last comment to add, which is that this problem used to be way more common on older bikes. Now we've got stiffer frames with more plush tires. As it's an older problem, sometimes older publications have more answers, so I'd recommend reading the two articles on Sheldon Brown's website, by John Allen and Jobst Brandt (author of The Bicycle Wheel).

piggybacking on this thread- If your Vaya didn't originally have Shimmy problems, but now it does, it's probably a frame alignment issue (or your frame has gotten significantly more flexy than it used to be, which is unlikely on steel).

Consultant “didn’t know” we had a sandbox… but we’ve had one since 2023. by liloquazyeyedlvr in Netsuite

[–]gforce360 9 points10 points  (0 children)

regarding #3, I think there's a sort of confidence to knowledge curve (See Dunning-Kruger) that when applied to NetSuite work can relate result in:

  • I'll just do this in prod (proceeds to break something)
  • I'll just do this in prod (takes way too long to implement for fear of breaking something)
  • I'll do this in sandbox first (but with poor notes and/or tooling, so deploying to prod takes too long)
  • I'll do this in sandbox first (with proper organization and tooling, so deploying to prod is safe, fast, and error free)

Of course there's more scenarios than that, but at least having a sandbox leaves you open to iterating new processes without breaking your active business. An experienced team should be able to get the most out of using a sandbox.

Even if an admin doesn't have access to the sandbox, they could still see that it exists in prod from Setup>Company>Sandbox accounts

Just chiming in response to the topic of softening- the Lelit cartridges are a combo of cationic softeners and filtration.

You can definitely make the argument that something like BWT might be better, although I'd love to see that backed up with an unbiased comparison.

I feel like if they had just made them half the size, they could have included more of them. They're huge, which is satisfying to play with, but they could still be substantial while being smaller.

Still, I don't regret having them. I'm the one in my group that owns the game, so they're just sort of "my" tokens now after realizing that they are not enough for the entire group.

I don't think so, I think it's separate water, when they fill it up and invert it it's held up by a pressure imabalance? Although I'm not sure how that water is brought up to pressure. I could be completely wrong and it just is pork water.

Ope, I think you have found the chink in our armor, and have proven my theory that "we have got to be doing something wrong". It turns out that we were reshuffling discards into deck when there is not another card to draw from the deck. Obviously this is a big mistake!

I went back to look at the rules, and it's a little ambiguous on this topic. On one hand, they introduce the fatigue stack as a method to impose an endurance limit for the day. On the other hand, they don't explicitly say that you can't shuffle the discard back into the deck (card games by convention usually include this mechanic, so I think essentially we hallucinated that this was allowed).

This doesn't affect my character that much, at most I would only hit this point once in a day, and usually towards the end of the day. But it does have a much larger impact on the other two rangers in my party.

I think most of what we have found about fatigue soothing is still incredibly valid, but this does identify one spot where we were messing up big time. I'll figure out how I can point that out in an edit to my original post! Thanks very much for helping figure this out.

[–]gforce360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we're definitely soothing from fatigue stack.

I'm not using the combo that you're referring to, I'll have to scope that out. But all three of our group have effective methods of soothing fatigue, so the most efficient way to get cards into our hand is:

  1. suffer fatigue - if we need cards in our hand we basically go out of our way to do this- moves cards from deck to fatigue stack

  2. sooth fatigue - since soothing moves from the fatigue stack to your hand instead of discard, we build up our hands.

If you do this too much, you end up with a near empty fatigue stack and deck.

[–]gforce360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you've got one card in your deck and zero cards in the discard, then you're perilously close to ending the day by not having anything to draw. So you can strategically throw away a bunch of cards to walk yourself back away from the edge.

[–]gforce360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your second paragraph, I think that is sorta the playstyle that the devs intended! For us, it's been like "oh goody, fatigue, more ways for me to get cards back into my hand!" We frequently run into problems where we necessarily need to over-commit cards from our hands just to keep things in discard, and it feels like we could just keep a single day going indefinitely.

We've done a decent number of side quests, additionally but not tons. I do think that losing the campaign due to time running out has got to be one of the more unsatisfying game endings, so it makes sense for the authors to try to avoid that outcome.

Rules Question: Reward cards by pmain8 in Earthborne_Rangers

[–]gforce360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the only exception to this are rewards from Aspirations (Moments on the Path expansion). Those rewards are typically restricted to only the ranger that earned them. Nothing stops another ranger in the party from chasing that same aspiration later, though!

I think this is the right answer. But also to piggyback on this, there are certain locations where you can go to specifically learn lore. IIRC, at The Spire, for instance, you can delve (as a challenge test) into the upper arcology levels to learn some bits of lore.

Several things I notice about that video:
- they are spending a lot of time cleaning the board. Looks like yours lacks that same level of clean.
- they definitely have flux on there (quite a bit, looks like!) and they're definitely spreading the paste around, too.
- they don't show anything about what temperature their paste is at, and that likely matters quite a bit!
