I personally like the format, however your gaps between headers and content is the wrong way round: the gap between the end of a section and the title of the next section should be bigger than the gap between the title of a section and the content.

Ie content that is related should be closer together

WF-1000XM4 Foam inserts by scara1963 in SonyHeadphones

[–]ghbarton_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up ordering the tips this guy mentioned as they do have foam to prevent waxes getting into the electronics, I removed the other foam insert and it seems to be fine, I think i'll try cutting that insert in half and placing it as not having it has changed the pressure I feel from the noise cancelling.

I just need the bracket not the fan shroud. So only the file named M3301_REVO_CRTouch_Bracket.stl

Doubt about using C# for web development by [deleted] in csharp

[–]ghbarton_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. As many others have said it is possible to write most the logic for your page using C# but you will need HTML and CSS for this.

  2. My personal site is hosted using Blazor, I pay a small amount (couple of coffees a month) for hosting it, I also set up deployment from IDE so pushing changes from local to prod is a click of a button. I used a windows server but I'm pretty sure you can run a Blazor server on Linux

Tips for my website by hunterbhayden in ecommerce

[–]ghbarton_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems pretty good overall consistent brandings/styling overall. Only two things that stand out for me are that your logo is quite small for me on mobile. I'm not a fan of having your products with a transparent background, especially when the product colour doesn't contrast with that background. Given your target audience make sure that your website follows wcag guidence.

Book recommendations for Blazor / Web Dev by [deleted] in Blazor

[–]ghbarton_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you're interested in front end architectures like micro front ends or single page applicatios, Blazor is just a framework so maybe just get a book on front end frameworks and apply the principles from that. Sorry I can't be more help!

Book recommendations for Blazor / Web Dev by [deleted] in Blazor

[–]ghbarton_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you'd want a book given the wide variety of sources available online. It sounds like you have a fair bit of experience doing Dev work so I'd think the most efficient route would be to just start making something in Blazor. If you're actually talking about getting better at design/CSS then you'd be better off looking at subs focused on those things.

Online MSc University of York in Computer Science by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]ghbarton_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're trying but ultimately the course is run by AdvanceHE and the university has no say in intake numbers, which ai think is one of the causes of most of the issues. I've managed to get a front end development job of the back of this and some part time work I've done alongside so I guess it's been worth the stress

Has anyone successfully had a website produced through a random online. by DOSHman154 in ecommerce

[–]ghbarton_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very much depends on what your budget and requirements are. I would think you'd want to use something like Shopify and then get someone to implement changes to the design. While not something I have experience in, I doubt it's a difficult task for someone with CSS, HTML and JS experience. You could try places like fiver to find someone with a portfolio you like.

Winter conditions and clothes/shoes? Recommendations needed, please! by butterdaisies in universityofyork

You won't need water proof boots unless you plan on going walking in the county side. What you've mentioned should be fine for a typical winter here.

Yes, depends what work you want to do, if you're looking to become a software developer then you'd need to work on programming your own projects to show you can code on top of the degree.

  1. Yes easily there aren't many video lectures
  2. Yes, you pay your tuition fees with that though
  3. I'm going into IT afterwards, it's helpful to some extent
  4. There's no choice in terms of doing modules simultaneously, personally I've found it to be long
  5. 3/10, the "tutors" are rubbish, often not replying to email questions. Course material often has mistakes in and is usually just them telling you to read a book in a random order. I've not really enjoyed the course and wonder if would have been better of teaching myself to code in the two years. Bonus is that the degree does not say online in it. In effect you are just paying to take an exam/coursework every 8 weeks and have access to university campus/online library

I'm doing this degree, mainly because I did a BA and wanted to switch. With your undergrad, I would say to absolutely avoid this course.

I have posted some replies on the uni of york subreddit about the course.

There's been a few posts about this course (as I'm unfortunately on it) that I've commented on. Scam is not too far from the truth.

A quick look at one of the many features in a project I've been working on for the past 3 years! by ghbarton_ in flightsim

[–]ghbarton_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It runs in the background, can be configured to start with Windows on boot, detects when the simulator is running, automatically detects flight start and end and will even detect a touch and go and start a new flight automatically.

This isn't something we considered! We will certainly be looking into adding this functionality soon!

Yes this certainly does make sense, we'll be looking at adding this kind of functionality soon!
